Cool E6850 L720A489 @4438Mhz Air + Asus Blitz Formula 1101

My new 2nd hand purchased E6850 L720A489 which I had high hopes for high FSB frequencies!

Compared to 2x E6850 L723A347 cpus on Asus Blitz Formula 1101 with Corsair Nautilus 500 water cooling:

E6850 L723A347 #1
VID: 1.325v

Max boot into memtest86+ v1.70 at 1.296v default vcore = 3933Mhz
Max FSB = 485-487FSB
Max CPUZ Validation = 4374Mhz - 9x486FSB at 1.712v
3006Mhz = 1.192v Prime95 v25.3
3600Mhz = 1.336v Prime95 v25.3
4000Mhz = 1.472v 32M

Max 32M = 4266Mhz at 1.712v single core, 4158Mhz at 1.632v dual core

vs

E6850 L723A347 #2
VID: 1.3375v

Max boot into memtest86+ v1.70 at 1.296v set vcore = 3897Mhz
Max FSB = 530-535FSB
Max CPUZ Validation = not yet tested
3006Mhz = 1.168v Prime95 v25.3
3600Mhz = 1.304v Prime95 v25.3
4000Mhz = 1.472v 32M
Max 1M =
Max 32M = 4104Mhz at 1.632v dual core (even 1.68v-1.712v vcore didn't help 32M pass at 4158Mhz single core or dual core enabled)

========================================================

Max CPUZ Validation on air @4438Mhz at 1.696v

@3535Mhz 32M

508FSB seems to be about the limit for this cpu But did some 32M for low clock challenge <3600Mhz limited by memory clock for now.

Without Maxmem tweak

With Maxmem = 615

Re: E6850 L720A489 + Asus Blitz Formula 1101

System
  • Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 L720A489 Retail
  • Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme + 120x38mm Panaflo 103cfm fan + Artic Cooling MX-2 TIM
  • Asus Blitz Formula 1101 bios
  • 640MB Gainward 8800GTS stock hsf + 169.01 beta drivers
  • 2x1GB Crucial Ballistix Tracer PC2-8500 in white dimm slots
  • Memory cooling = 120x25mm Thermaltake 81cfm fan
  • 80GB Hitachi 7K80 SATA
  • Pioneer DVR-08 Burner
  • Sony FDD
  • 620W Corsair HX620 PSU
  • WinXP Pro SP2

Decided to pluck in my 640MB Gainward 8800GTS for some 3dmarks with 169.01 drivers

Easy cpu clock heh

Tried to 3dmark bench my E6850 L720A489 @4.2Ghz on air cooling but fell short @4176Mhz for 3dmark06/05 and @4166Mhz for 3dmark2003 all at 1.64v vcore on air

3Dmark06 = 12,850
3Dmark05 = 22,165
3Dmark2003 = 42,508

169.01 beta drivers really boost the numbers considering the above 3 scores are ~450-550pts faster than my E6600 @4410Mhz runs at same or similar 640MB Gainward 8800GTS clock speeds of 648/1620/2016!

3Dmark06

If this was quad core at ~3.0Ghz cpu score would of been around 4400 pushing 3dmark06 score to around 13231 ish ???

Re: E6850 L720A489 + Asus Blitz Formula 1101

Now for some Crysis Demo (single player) with 640MB Gainward 8800GTS stock @648/1620/2016 - some reason GPU-Z reports shader at 1637mhz but Rivatuner 2.06 says 1620mhz.

System
  • Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 L720A489 Retail @4104Mhz at 1.544v
  • Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme + 120x38mm Panaflo 103cfm fan + Artic Cooling MX-2 TIM
  • Asus Blitz Formula 1101 bios
  • 640MB Gainward 8800GTS stock hsf + 169.01 beta drivers
  • 2x1GB Crucial Ballistix Tracer PC2-8500 in white dimm slots
  • Memory cooling = 120x25mm Thermaltake 81cfm fan
  • 80GB Hitachi 7K80 SATA
  • Pioneer DVR-08 Burner
  • Sony FDD
  • 620W Corsair HX620 PSU
  • WinXP Pro SP2

Re: E6850 L720A489 + Asus Blitz Formula 1101

Changing over to eVGA 8800GTX video card

System
  • Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 L720A489 Retail
  • Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme + 120x38mm Panaflo 103cfm fan + Artic Cooling MX-2 TIM
  • Asus Blitz Formula 1101 bios
  • eVGA 8800GTX EK Full Cover Delrin H20 + 169.01 beta drivers
  • 2x1GB Crucial Ballistix Tracer PC2-8500 in white dimm slots
  • Memory cooling = 120x25mm Thermaltake 81cfm fan
  • 80GB Hitachi 7K80 SATA
  • Pioneer DVR-08 Burner
  • Sony FDD
  • 620W Corsair HX620 PSU
  • WinXP Pro SP2

E6850 @4104Mhz at 1.544v to 1.552v

Still have a bit of room on cpu so keeping vcore low for now

3Dmark06 = 14,350
3Dmark05 = 23,236
3Dmark2003 = 48,226

3Dmark06

If this was quad core at ~3.0Ghz cpu score would of been around 4400 pushing 3dmark06 score to around 14884 ?

CPU score at 5555 would be around 15,539

CPU score at 6400 would be around 15,891

3Dmark05
