Asus P5B Deluxe + E6700 (with/without DDR2 Maximizer)

New thread to continue my Asus P5B Deluxe adventures since the old one was getting crowded

System:
  • Intel Core 2 Duo E6700 Conroe QPGA B1 Step 5
  • Swiftech G4 Storm/Thermochill 120.3/MCP650 + Kayl 100W Custom PSU
  • Asus P5B Deluxe 0804 bios (upgraded from 0405 bios)
  • 128MB Gainward FX5200 PCI card
  • 500GB Seagate 7200.10 SATAII
  • LiteOn 165H DVD-ROM
  • FDD
  • 1KW OCZ ProXStream 1000PXS Quad PCI-E psu

Memory to be tested:
  • 2GB OCZ PC2-8000 Titanium Alpha VX2 Micron D9GKX
  • 2GB G.skill F2-6400PHU2 HZ Micron D9GMH 629 batch

I'll be doing tests first without Hipro-tech.com DDR2 Maximizer installed, then with it installed.

Asus Probe2 is within +2C or what coretemp reports.

Tried 10x360FSB 2:3 for 540mhz on memory at 2.45v bios set but for some reason 32M times seem slow compared to around 13m 39s on P5W DH with 540mhz 4-4-4-8 at 2.4v vdimm. Maybe time to do a fresh WinXP Pro SP2 reinstall ?

tRFC won't pass 32M lower than tRFC = 35 with 2.45v vdimm. Would need more vdimm to tighten tRFC value.

Re: Asus P5B Deluxe + E6700 (with/without DDR2 Maximizer)

Slight detour while I revisit 4x1GB G.skill F2-6400PHU2 2GBHZ Micron D9GMH 629 batch for 4GB config on WinXP Pro SP2 32bit operating system. As previously reported http://i4memory.com/showthread.php?t=1327, WinXP Pro SP2 32bit operating system will address the full 4GB but by default only maximum 2GB can be used. Using the /3GB switch in boot.ini allows you to increase maximum from 2GB to 3GB.

For the P5B Deluxe to see the full 4GB, you need to set Remap feature to enabled.

3GB recognised in System Properties

Stressprime2004 Orthos edition doesn't seem to allocate more than 1GB per app regardless of /3GB switch. However, the original Prime95 v24.14 can utilise the 3GB fine. I set each Prime95 v24.14 instance to 1399MB usage after looking at how much free memory is available in Windows Task manager and dividing it by 2 then subtract 30MB each for a little buffer.

Now to see how high 4x1GB G.Skill F2-6400PHU2 2GBHZ Micron D9GMH 629 batch can clock at just 2.1v vdimm with a slight tightening of Write Recovery time from 6 to 4, tRFC value from 42 to 35 and tRRD value from 10 to 5.

Re: Asus P5B Deluxe + E6700 (with/without DDR2 Maximizer)

Bumped vdimm from 2.1v to 2.25v in bios and left all other settings the same and managed 4x1GB @500mhz 4-4-4-12 very easily. Haven't tried higher yet.
