Talking Core i7 2700K + Asus Maximus IV Gene-Z MATX

Finally thanks to Allen/Splave from XS forums, got hold of a Sandy Bridge LGA1155 cpu which goes past 52x multiplier! I tried 3x 2600K (2x L047A898 + 1x L038A660) and only L038A660 on Gigabyte P67A-UD7 did 5Ghz 1.38v and max 52x multi for 5200Mhz 32M pi on H50-1 H20. The other 2 stuck at 51x multi on Asus Maximus IV Gene-Z. Note those even 2600K L038A660 was stuck at 51x multi on Asus Maxmus IV Gene-Z too so could be board settings ?

Anyway, my Core i7 2700K 3126C259 Costa Rica cpu arrived today from Splave and finally can play with 55x and 56x multi. The cpu is definitely hotter than my 2600K but much better overclocker without Internal PLL overvoltage needed, the 2700K can bench HyperPi 16M Pi x8 instances all the way to 51x multi for 5100Mhz, while my 2600K started to need Internal PLL OV around 4700Mhz.
  • Core i7 2700K 3126C256
  • Corsair H50-1 H20 cooling
  • Asus Maxmus IV Gene-Z 0902 bios
  • 2x2GB Gskill 17600 PIS 7-10-10-28 rated
  • Sapphire HD5870 flashed to Asus bios
  • 80GB Intel X25-M SSD
  • 1200W Silverstone OP1200

2700K @5600Mhz

First up disable HT due to heat (can hit > 80+C under load if HT enabled) for 56x multi can only manage 8M Pi but this is just on Corsair H50-1 H20.

Super Pi 8M

Super Pi 1M

2700K @5558Mhz

32M Pi run

2700K @5300Mhz

HyperPi 16M x 8 instances full Hyperthreaded run, you can see from realtemp peak cpu core temps hit 89C on Corsair H50-1 H20.

2700K slightly needing more voltage than my 2600K L038A660 which did 5Ghz at 1.38v
