Re: [hwbot] 3dmark06 rankings

I know i know, but to tell you the truth i know sweet f*** all about OC'ing this platform yet.
I even asked Shamino this morning whether i needed to drop the LDT multi before i start OC'ing (ala AMD days) lol.

The time ive spent on the machine was basically installing and setting up my everyday OS and systems

heh nice. ah well just add some FSBs and away you go. also dont leave vcore on auto as I believe if you overclock and its on auto it decides what voltage it thinks it should give the cpu and apparently can set some high numbers.
some guy overclocked his quad to 3.4GHz and left vcore on auto. it set 1.6V.hot stuff.

yeah set everything manually before you start overclocking. your memory should tweak just nice on that board.

well Eva's thread does all the hard work for you.

Re: [hwbot] 3dmark06 rankings

You'll get the hang of it T_M, no probs.

I leave the HT multi at 5x and can generally bump up the HT setting to 251Mhz no probs. Also PCI-Ex you can probably bump to 125Mhz as well but don't go nuts, PCI-Ex OCing is supposed to be a fast way to corrupt you OS install.

The HT at 251Mhz and PCI-Ex at 125Mhz settings are what was done automatically when linkboost was enabled in the BFG BIOS. Running the Auto overclocking/system tunning feature of Ntune will also give similar results.

Hi FSB is also supposed to give good boosts in 3D benchmarks.

Heavy H20 was saying he got 20K extra points in Aquamark by running the same speed but with higher FSB and lower multi

Re: [hwbot] 3dmark06 rankings

Thanks for the tips.
So far i've validated at 3.1 just prior to it crashing, with everything on auto. Would the voltage adjust on the fly if on auto and using CG? Hmm might have to check using a V monitor tonight

im not sure if it would adjust on the fly but I recommend setting a vcore of 1.45V manually which should be plenty to hit 3.1GHz stable and more likely 3.4GHz.

unless you know the memory limit maybe run it at its rated speed only until you see how the cpu fares?

stick to the old style of overclocking one variable at a time or you just dont know the weakest link.

On stock cooler at the moment, so still coming to terms with what it can do at stock volts. Then im considering good air for fun and comparison, then Storm G4, then .......
As for rated RAM speed, shouldnt be a problem for what i can do on ****ty air.
