Smile Corsair PC8888 Dominator Series DDR2

Corsair Dominator series looks mighty fine although very expensive! http://www.corsairmemory.com/corsair/dominator.html

The Dominator Series Twin2X2048-8888C4DF is a 2048 MByte matched pair of DDR2 SDRAM DIMMs built using Corsair’s latest high performance heat sink with Dual-Path Heat Xchange (DHX) technology coupled with a Corsair Dominator Airflow Fan. This part delivers outstanding performance in the latest generation of dual-channel DDR2-based motherboards. It has been tested extensively in multiple DDR2 motherboards to ensure compatibility and performance at its rated speed. This memory has been verified to operate at 1111MHz at latencies of 4-4-4-12-2T at 2.4 VDIMM.

The Twin2X2048-8888C4DF comes with Enhanced Performance Profiles (EPP), the open standard for performance module SPD’s jointly developed by Corsair and NVIDIA. EPP SPD’s on Corsair modules allow users to automatically configure EPP enabled motherboards with aggressive memory performance settings, for maximum memory and system performance.

SPD programmed at:
JEDEC standard 5-5-5-18 values at 800MHz
EPP standard 4-4-4-12-2T, 2.4V values
But that 2T validation sticks out to me... 975X motherboards I know of don't have 1T vs 2T options, so how well it would perform at 2.4v on 975x is unknown ?

Seems like with EPP support this memory is more targeted at AM2 platform which of course can clock memory higher and tighter with less vdimm than eqivalent 975x platform.

very expensive i say at US$650

Australian perspective of comparative prices:

2GB Corsair PC6400C3 goes for AUD$699-766
2GB Corsair PC6400C4 AUD$420-480
2GB Corsair PC8500C5 goes for AUD$699-780
2GB Gskill PC6400PHU2 HZ goes for AUD$360-400
2GB Gskill PC8000PHU2 HZ goes for AUD$760-780
2GB Gskill PC8500PHU2 HZ AUD$850+
2GB Mushkin PC6400 4-4-3 AUD$450-550
2GB Mushkin PC8000 4-5-4 AUD$740-800
2GB OCZ PC8000 Titanium Alpha AUD$780

means dominator pc8888 ~AUD$1000-1150 Shocked

compared to

Asus P5W DH = AUD$399-450
Intel D975XBX = AUD$299-350
E6600 retail = AUD$499-550
850W Silverstone ST85ZF = AUD$335-375

hehe

edit: I did a search on corsair help forums for this memory and it doesn't perform well at all on Intel platform as Corsair only validated it for AM2 board http://www.houseofhelp.com/forums/sh...ad.php?t=54052

Hang on, 2GB sticks in pair? Are you saying you want 2x2GB sticks? These look very good, surely a worthy upgrade if you can afford it.

I kind of like Corsairs design but not there price, I guess the ram companies have realised that OCers are not the most rational types when it comes to spending X-amount on hardware.
