Cool 64 cpu cores - Quad Intel Xeon L7555 Nehalem-EX 1.86Ghz!

Guys probably haven't heard from me a while as been busy with work. At work managed to get remote access to this beast of a server for a few days of benchmarking and testing Linux applications - particularly MySQL related.

If only I had physical access, I'd load windows on it for some nice benchmarks. wPrime anyone ?

It's a vbulletin customer's server so will be used for vBulletin forum(s) hence why I am testing MySQL benchmarks etc

I'm running benchmarks comparing the following MySQL versions in cfq vs deadline vs noop scheduler
  • MySQL 5.0.92 for MyISAM and InnoDB performance
  • MySQL 5.1.55 for MyISAM and InnoDB performance
  • MariaDB 5.2.5 for MyISAM/Aria and InnoDB performance
  • MySQL 5.5.10 for MyISAM and InnoDB performance
If I have time also Percona MySQL 5.1.55 rel12.6 and Percona MySQL 5.5.8-20 Beta

Yeah but can you imagine the GFLOPS this thing would be capable of? What about wPRIME or chuck a few GTX580's in it and run 06, Vantage and 3DM11

Very nice work there, that must have taken you some time!

You know I was never sure what you 'did' in terms of work, but I think I have more of an idea now

MySQL 5.0.92 seems to do better than the newer version - am I reading that right or are there efficiency/capability optimizations that make the newer version the preferred choice despite the lower numbers?

Yeah took quite a while to run, luckily the bash shell script shaved alot of the manual time off

As i said in the article, it's to do with how sysbench operates and that MySQL prior to MySQL 5.1.7 handled query caching differently.

Yup work - focusing on optimising vBulletin forum/servers for clients both at work and private consult work

Alot of what I learn and pick up optimisation wise get's implemented on i4memory.com forums too - need for speed
