Question ASUS P6T7 WS + Detecting Less Memory

Hi

I have ASUS P6T7 WS with BIOS Version 0811. I have installed 4x2 = 8GB ram from G.Skill Ripjaws series (DDR3 1600 - F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL) + CPU I7 980X.

I am running Windows 7 64bit. When I installed the ram, bios only sees 4GB, and also I have two kits more from the same brand (16GB more= 24GB of Total memory)

I dont know why the motherboard just detect the half of memory

BR

hi Esteban and welcome

Yes as GenAn posted info at http://i4memory.com/ramdetect still applies

I'd start by posting your bios settings tried and used using format of a bios template - P6T6 WS Rev bios template should be close to yours http://i4memory.com/f54/asus-p6t6-ws...emplate-18770/

Haven't tried 4GB density modules in 2x4GB yet, so no sure of their performance characteristics, but i assume you need to play with QPI/DRAM (cpu vtt) and VDIMM voltages as per outlined at http://i4memory.com/ramdetect and http://i4memory.com/f55/intel-core-i...ide-x58-13051/. Since you use i7 980X gulftown cpu, uncore and mem frequency ratio has changed to min 1.5x times, so you can also tweak that and the relevant QPI/DRAM (cpu vtt) voltage required as per info outlined at http://i4memory.com/f55/intel-core-i...-ratios-23430/

hi eva2000

I have read it the links below about the correct ratio for memory uncore, etc.
This is my template bios actually:

Esteban

Have someone tried 4GB density modules over this board???

Are you using the right slots? Use all the blue slots first (for 3 sticks) then 1 black slot.

i'd say some of those voltages marked in bold to manually set lowest option value

CPU PLL Voltage: 1.8
QPI/DRAM Core Voltage: 1.30 try up to 1.4v in 0.02v increments
IOH Voltage: 1.1
IOH PCIE Voltage: 1.5
ICH Voltage: 1.1
ICH PCIE Voltage: 1.50
DRAM Bus Voltage: 1.66

also try CPU Differential Amplitude: between 900 and 1000mv
