Cool [review] Corsair Nautilus 500 Water Cooler Review @ Legitreviews.com

Legitreviews.com , looks at the new Corsair Nautilus 500 water cooling external setup and compares it to their own Corsair Hydrocool 200EX
Although the Corsair Nautilus500 is Corsair's most recent external water cooler it is not their first. The original HydroCool 200 was designed back in 2002 and launched on March 20, 2003. That means the HydroCool 200 was built for use on the now dated Intel P4 and AMD K7 series of processors. The original HydroCool was designed to provide up to 200 Watts of cooling for these processors, which is still enough to cool today's fastest processors, but not an entire system. The Nautilus 500 is rated at 500W, which is more than double the previous model and more than enough to water cool an entire computer system including the processor, chipset, and video card/s if one buys the extra water blocks.

hmm just done the reading and alot of flaws it seems

- carpet glue for holding radiator in place
- water level indicator unreadable
- unprotected radiator fins
- intel stand off issues

only 1C idle and 2C load better than Hydrocool 200EX!

Still the new unit is

1. cheaper
2. does perform better
3. supports LGA775/s939 natively and future support for AM2

I was seriously thinking about getting one of these but I don't think I will now.

I'll just get a 3x120mm fan rad and a pump, to use with the Storm I've had sitting around for months.

What I am thinking of doing is mounting this all in a seperate enclosure and finding some similar quick release / no drip connectors, so I can still detach the whole lot from my box like the HydroCool.

I'll also have a fan bus for the fans and a digital meter for water temp and flow.

It doesn't have to be pretty just work and this should be better than the Nautilus for cooling.

yeah i since found out that the block is not MCW6000 but something else........radiator and block are the performance inhibitors here

i could live with all the other issues but not those
