Got a different 920, batch 3949A596, doesn't seem any better than the 3946A172 Why is it so hard to find a chip with a good IMC?!

wow sorry to hear your bad luck, what cpu cooling you use ? as you know better the cpu cooling the better the memory clocks as well. I've had 8x bloomfield cpus all had good mem controllers from batches 3836*** C0 to 3845/3847 D0 and 3851 D0s but all were on TRUE120 air or water cooled.

I'm using a Venomous X with 2x Scythe 1600 RPM fans in push-pull config. I don't know what the deal is man, I'm about ready to sell all this crap. I can't even do 20x200BCLK with the STT 2000 C7 kit at its rated speed/timings for 8x HyperP1 32M, I get "not exact in round" or freezes/BSODs. I've tried up to 1.59v on VTT, I don't know what else to do here.

Okay so I did manage 20x200BCLK 1000MHz 7-7-7-20 with my 3946A chip earlier today, but I still couldn't get it with 1.66v for the memory, I had to go up to 1.74v. I don't see why I have to use so much VDIMM.

noticed XMP 2000 profile is 7-7-7-21, so maybe try tRAS 21 instead 20 ? with tRFC 110

also remember to bump vcore for 8x32M hyperpi

Coolaler ran a kit of these@DDR3-2000 7-8-7-20 1T on 20x200BCLK with only 1.56v to the memory, I can't see why I need 1.76v unless it's CPU IMC as I suspect. This is a lot more frustrating than Core 2 and DDR2, that's for sure

7-8-7-20 1T is alot easier on IMC than 7-7-7-20/21 1T - it's tRCD that stresses the IMC.

It's not making a difference here whether it's 7-7-7 or 7-8-7, if I'm on 200BCLK with the 2:10 divider I have to give the sticks >1.72v or I get HyperPi errors or worse.
