Dell Optiplex GX260 DDR RAM Help
I'm trying desperately to upgrade the RAM in my daughters PC. It's an older Dell OPtiplex GX260 with Intel 845G chipset and P4 2.4.
It currently runs well with 2 X 512MB GeIL Ultra X DDR400 2-2-2-5 2.65v sticks. I have tried to upgrade to 2 X 1GB sticks and first off I got some generic with Samsung K4H510438D-ZCCC 128X4. System didn't even boot up.
SO in my infintie wisdom I purchased some good old Corsair XMS XMS3202v2.1 thinking it was rock solid ram, all I get now is the system not booting and some long beeps. I assume it's an issue with timings and the fact that this RAM is rated to 2.75v as most replacement RAM listed is either 2.5v or 2.6v
As Dell BIOS is neutered I can't set a thing.
Can someone either confirm or deny my suspicions that it's the voltage required is too high?
Anyone want to swap some RAM???

845G chipset very old not sure it supports 1GB modules past a certain memory frequency ?? Post at http://en.community.dell.com/forums/t/19245919.aspx does suggest 845G supports max 2GB total, so you probably need some lower volts PC2700 1GB modules and/or bios update for dell
