Cool Xeon W3565 = i7 960 coming soon

Yup another Xeon nehalem cpu due soon, W3565 = i7 960!

http://www.techpowerup.com/107414/In...Processor.html

Intel updated its socket LGA-1366 Xeon processor portfolio with the W3565. Based on the Nehalem architecture, this quad-core processor is made for single-socket servers and workstations. It has near-identical specifications to the consumer-grade Core i7 960, in having a clock speed of 3.20 GHz (24 x 133 MHz), 8 MB of L3 cache, and a QuickPath Interconnect (QPI) speed of 4.8 GT/s. The QPI speed is perhaps the only thing that differentiates it from the W3570, which has the same clock speed, albeit a QPI speed of 6.4 GT/s. This one specification makes for a large price difference. While the new W3565 is priced at $562, the W3570 is priced at $999. With the introduction of the new processor, Intel is set to retire the 2.93 GHz W3540, and 3.06 GHz W3550.

Easy answer. Australia sucks when it comes to computer component availability.

Aussie market is too small and disties probably thinking it won't sell well hear maybe the i7 950 and higher cpus don't sell well here ?

W3570 unlocked multi I thought would be must more needed than fixed W3565 ? I wouldn't mind trying a W3570 for right price - IIRC USA had some W3570 special prices at ~US$500-600 a while back hehe.

edit: looks like W3570 deal is back US$595 http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=238671!

i have to disagree, sometimes we get them before other countries.
ie with the i7950 i got mine through a local distributor before the release date
they would get in trouble in intel found out though
