Bios Downloads

I have yet to try these bioses as still on 0407 0007 beta for initial testing. Use at your own risk!

0007 and 0001 aren't publicly available bioses and Asus has no intention of including them specifically on their Asus download site yet.

Listed in order from most recent (top) to oldest (bottom)
  • 0803 beta bios
    • Patched system hanged after overclocking failed with i7 980X or changing CPU from
    • Gulftown to i7 980X.
    • Set default uclk frequency to 2133MHz for i7 970.
    • Change String "CPU turbo power limit" to "High TDP Turbo Mode"
  • 0702 bios
  • 0609 official bios (i think it's same as beta not entirely sure but both have same MD5 hash). Change log isn't as detailed as beta bios:
    • Add microcode for Gulftown CPU

4000Mhz at 1.304v idle/1.320v load


First overclock on Asus P6T6 WS Revolution and paired it with my worst i7 920 3836A756 #2 C0 stepping cpu which on DFI UT X58-T3EH8 on TRUE120 air cooling and EK Supreme LT water cooling needed around 1.360-1.376v vcore to be Prime95 stable. Now same i7 920 3836A756 C0 #2 cpu managed 4000Mhz for Prime95 at just 1.304v idle/1.320v load vcore with 20x200Bclk with OCZ Platinum DDR3-1333Mhz 7-7-7-24 (OCZ3P1333LVA6GK 'Animal Series') @DDR3-1600Mhz 7-7-7-24 1T at 1.60v vdimm.

Note: OCZ3P1333LVA6GK 'Animal Series' - are Micron DDR3-1866-2000Mhz CAS9 binned ICs which have been sprinkled into the OCZ Platinum DDR3-1333Mhz series and are differentiated by the 'A' in the product code.
  • OCZ3P1333LVA6GK = Animal Series with Micron DDR3-1866-2000Mhz CAS9 binned ICs
  • OCZ3P1333LV6GK = Regular OCZ Platinum DDR3-1333Mhz.

Temperature wise seems cooler than on DFI UT X58-T3EH8, but that could also be the result of different room ambient temperatures.

Update #1: Just updated from Everest Ultimate 5.0.2.1784 to 5.0.2.1789 and B2B with AUTO set saw jump in bandwidth with new 1789 build

Update #2: For HyperPi v0.99b only can run 8x 16M Pi test on WinXP Pro SP3 32bit, as 32bit OS only can allocate maximum of 2GB memory per application. Trying to run 8x 32M Pi hits the 2GB per application OS limit and only runs 7x 32M Pi instances and alternatives resources for the 8th 32M Pi instance with the other 7 instances and thus doesn't stress the system memory as much as 8x 16M Pi Hyper Pi test when on 32bit OS.

For 8x 16M Pi, 1.60v vdimm resulted in system reboot near end of loops. Upped vdimm from 1.60v to 1.64v and 8x 16M Pi passed.

Max BCLK Preliminary Testing

I started testing memory clocks first but one thing led to another, I ended up pushing BCLK frequency somewhat, so decided to see how Asus P6T6 WS Revolution faired in terms of BCLK. This i7 920 3836A756 C0 cpu on DFI UT X58-T3EH8 booted easily to 227-228bclk from bios into windows for super pi 32m with max validation between 231-235bclk all on TRUE120 air cooling.

On Asus P6T6 WS Revolution seems the initial ceiling is similar, in that can boot from bios straight into windows at up to 228bclk with only bumping IOH voltage from 1.1v to 1.20/1.22v and QPI/DRAM (uncore = CPU VTT) volts of 1.3875-1.400v with PCI-E frequency of 103mhz. Managed to pull of 225bclk for Super Pi 1M and 8M but not 32M stable and 228bclk validation at the same voltages.

Issue: Came across my first issue on this board, for some reason I can't set Uncore/CPU VTT voltage (what Asus calls QPI/DRAM volts) to a value >1.400v without after exiting bios, with boot up screen running into blank screen with POST CODE = 31 which isn't in the manual of listed POST CODES ??? If I set to 1.400v QPI/DRAM or less can get into windows at 226-228bclk easily. Something, I'll need to investigate later

Max BCLK Testing continued...

7 days ago, tried my first attempt at max bclk on i7 920 3836A756 C0 #2 cpu, and got to around 228bclk validation but no 32M Pi stability. Now after trial and error testing of bios settings and voltages, managed to pull off 230 bclk validation and 225.8 bclk for Super Pi 32M.

Asus TurboV windows app was pretty useful for testing different voltages within windows for Super Pi 32M. I used TurboV in conjunction with setFSB to start with 220 bclk boot from bios into windows and setFSB to 223 bclk for 32M Pi. Then after figuring out voltages tried 225 bclk boot from bios into windows and passed 32M Pi at 225 and 226 bclk.

OCZ Platinum DDR3-1333Mhz 7-7-7-24 (OCZ3P1333LVA6GK 'Animal Series')
10x Memory Multiplier Test CAS9

OCZ Platinum DDR3-1333Mhz 7-7-7-24 (OCZ3P1333LVA6GK 'Animal Series') memory modules are Micron DDR3-1866-2000Mhz CAS9 binned ICs sprinkled into the regular OCZ Platinum DDR3-1333Mhz series. Let's see how these modules do on Asus P6T6 WS Revolution.

Back to Back CAS# Delay was left on AUTO which defaults to value of 0. The default Command Rate (DRAM Timing Mode) when set to AUTO seems to change to 2T at high memory frequency CAS9 memory clocks. So I decided to run DDR3-2000Mhz 9-9-9-24 2T first and then manually set to 1T DRAM Timing Mode for a 2nd set of benchmarks as follows:
  • DDR3-2000Mhz 9-9-9-24 2T at 1.66v vdimm, 1.50v QPI/DRAM (CPU VTT uncore voltage)
  • DDR3-2000Mhz 9-9-9-24 1T at 1.66v vdimm, 1.50-1.51875v QPI/DRAM (CPU VTT uncore voltage)
Super Pi 1M, 32M, Everest Ultimate bandwidth tests for 2T managed with QPI/DRAM of 1.50v only 1T config's Hyper Pi 8x16M Pi test required bumping QPI/DRAM from 1.50v to 1.51875v

Continue testing of 6GB OCZ Platinum DDR3-1333Mhz 7-7-7-24 (OCZ3P1333LVA6GK 'Animal Series') kit but with voltage bumps for single Super Pi 32M stability.

For DDR3-2058Mhz 9-9-9-24 1T I tested different Back to Back CAS# Delay values, AUTO (0) vs 6 vs 10. B2B value of 8 for some reason resulted in memtest86+ v2.11 test #2 errors while the other values of AUTO (0), 6 and 10 didn't have such errors. 32M Pi difference between B2B AUTO (0) and 10 was only 3.063 seconds slower at 10 but a 17.6% and 9.96% drop in Everest Read and COPY bandwidth respectively. For DDR3-2108Mhz 9-9-9-24 1T at 1.74v I only tested B2B value of AUTO (0).
