Yeah single disk is 48.8-50MB/s from all reviews so yes slower than some disks but raid them and watch them fly

Benching 64k stripe + 4k cluster next then see how a full pcmark05 run looks

OK two questions

Why did the 2x 160GB Seagate 7200.7 NCQ drives die ???, I have been thinking of buying 2 x 200GB SG 7200.8 NCQ drives

How much are the Hitachi drives and how long is the warranty, also noise ??, heat ??

sorry, more than 2 questions

Regarding 2x160GB 7200.7 NCQ no idea rebooted system and got no system disk or something and the nvidia boot manager message. Thought it was my disk priority messed up but wasn't. Might not be dead but i'll retest them on my other system before rma'ing if needed.

Hitachi 7K80 is 3yr warranty, according to Hitachi Drive Fitness diagnostics drives were around 35-38C

great thread

i'm looking for SATA2......this is better than i thought.....can you do some 2x80GB benches as well...cause most people will buy them in such config....video guys normally work off two different independant arrays OS/data to avoid problems

computer market's got 80GB Sata2 drives at $90

I'm building a dual Opetron video box next week as you could have guessed from my PSU enquiry at OCAU....I was planning to use WD SATA2 for data but those *****es don't have NCQ.....it's a pitty 160/250GB Hitachi drives are so expensive....they would be great....

Alpha...............looks like Seagate 7200.9 are not far away...GOD at ocau's using 300GB ones (connections connections).......

well other tests have to wait just loaded my OS onto 4x 80GB raid 0 with 16/4 config got a 1k boost in pcmark05

seems to have lowered my max oc a tad but still only tried 510-2fix bios with my FX-57

Pcmark05 = 6,112

Multithreaded Test 3 / HDD - Virus Scan test went from 15-17MB/s to 58-70MB/s
