Re: New GSkill 4GB PK

On the P35 LT I didn't specifically try looser timings but did try Relaxed on the fine tune at one point. I wasn't OC'ing anything, just trying their default DDR2 800 SPD settings which is the same for their 1066 rating.

Trying them up at 1066 resulted in errors almost right away and did try up to 2.15v.
Wasn't getting that at all on the X38.

It is weird that they seem to work on the X38 but not the P35.

I tried a few other kits on the P35 LT working at their DDR2 800 timings (including an OCZ2VU8004GK no frills 4gig kit) and didn't get any errors with those.

I don't have any other kits that can truly handle 1066 (why I bought these) so can't really test that.

Could also be something in the BIOS, but did try the last release and the two betas (Jan-09 for LT and Feb-14 for the UT)

Another item that's bugging me about this kit otherwise is they do get pretty toastie (Even at 2.0v @ DDR2 800). After a memtest session I can practically slide off the heat spreader.

The TIM tape used on the inside of the spreader seems like it gets "waxy" when heated up and not making good adhesive contact (maybe it was in the beginning but the adhesive has melted by now).

When they are room temperature it's more of a "gummy" type of contact, but the spreaders can still be moved.

I see G.Skill uses this type of spreader on a few other products and wondering if they have the same issue.

If I were to keep them, I'd replace the heat spreader with something else.

Re: New GSkill 4GB PK

Funny, I was browsing for alternatives and see NewEgg dropped the price on these $15 bucks ($154) and could swear they jacked the price up on the Geil EVO One's (2 x 2GB PC8500) to $220.

Re: New GSkill 4GB PK

Yikes! I got this email back from G.Skill.

This memory has some issues with DFi P35 motherboard. Current DFI has no
solution to fix it yet.

Also happens on F2-6400CL5D-4GBPQ, F2-8000CL5D-4GBPQ, F2-8500CL5D-4GBPK

Thank you
GSKILL USA REP
I can't get a straight answer as to exactly what the problem is but do hope G.Skill and/or DFI get it worked out.
