I have been gone for a year back home to help with the family business...The new Asus bios has me a bit confused...

also Im using the Gkill F3-17000 ripjaw Z ram...16 gigs

I tend to hang with Nvidia but the 7970 is a sample...no bells and whistles but why not...

I have never really run over 4.8ish with the 3DMark cpu oriented test like 06, Vantage and now Mark 11...Im not the best Ocer...This 3930 runs all 3 test at 5.0 and runs them well..

here is Mark 11 at 4.9....

3D06 at 5.0

and Vantage at 5.0

I have yet to hit a wall messing with the 3D06, Vantage, or mark 11...I did hit a wall at 5.2 with HT off for 05 and 03 test but I think it wanted me to give it more than I am ready to..I like this CPU and dont know if I can get another....

The only downside is the X79 does not play well with SSD's..The new intel C600 chipset only see's the SSD's as SCSI drives....so you cant use the toolbox to trim the drive..Because of this I used my old X25 160 SSD and a WD 1TB 6.0 Black and tryed the asus caching..it boots fast but I would rather just have a good SSD for the OS...not to mention I have never used Marvel ports before.

The I7 3930 will do things I have never seen before...Maybe once I get used to the bios I can make it go even faster...
