Re: NVIDIA 8800GT single card 3DMark06 world record

The core was coming close to it's max but it felt like there was plenty left in the shader and a bit more on the memory. Testing was done v-late at night (between 2am and 3:30am - I get up at 6am to get ready for work) last night and I was utterly buggered, hence why I couldn't have been bothered screwing around with the FSB etc.

I've got a P5E3 Deluxe here and a BIOS given to me that has 'large improvements in Yorkfield overclocking and stability' so it'll get a few runs on the weekend for some stability tests and hopefully some better Yorkfield results.

Also to get ready for the weekend, before going to the pub today (was a mate's last day at work), I had ASUS drop by and hand over a P5N-T Deluxe for testing so that should also be interesting for the weekend. Unfortunately I was informed the P5N-T Deluxe 'isn't quite ready yet for Yorkfield' and that I should test with a Conroe or Kentsfield - not a surprise at all given that NVIDIA are still getting a Yorkfield happy BIOS together as of last week - whether anything has changed since, I don't know.

with any luck I'll be able to come through with some decent SLI results - too bad I hadn't the chance to order some new water blocks during the week

Yeah I know SLI works - there's two sets of 169.01 drivers. One was specifically single card, one was SLI and there's a few other beta ones as well. I'm yet to give them a decent testing though as I only got the SLI board home late tonight (got home @ 10:45pm - freakin' long day but deadline is gone!)

Mate we seriously need to get a session happening in the next week or two. I've got a 780i and some GTX's waiting

Re: NVIDIA 8800GT single card 3DMark06 world record

Today or Monday I'll be ordering three MCW-60 water blocks and after some testing throughout the week I think the following weekend could see some interesting results with water/acetone loop + dice. Unfortunately I won't have the Yorkfield for that weekend (needs to do some circulation and then it'll be back) but it's not a biggy because 780i doesn't play happy with it

We're just chillin out in the office today after a busy send week so I might even try and get home early for some prep tonight over a few post-deadline beers

Mate, there's no way I couldn't share the experience with everyone

Josh, have you ever used acetone in water cooling before?
I would be very hesitant to use it, try using methylated spirits instead.
Acetone likes to eat many rubbers/plastics.

It would only be for a couple hour bench session and in mild concentration so I'm not all that worried.

If I get a chance I'll make a couple test samples and see how it goes throughout a single day i.e. glass of water/acetone mix with a piece of tubing placed in it and left to sit for 12-24 hours.
