Liquid cooling kit swap over

Hi to all

After the recent problems with err.....mobo/PSU/Graphics I have been giving some thought to an upgrade. I do have an emergency fund set aside and what better to spend it on than a new i7 Sandy Bridge with new Mobo and DDR3 RAM.

One of my concerns is having to swap all of my liquid cooling out and possibly replacing it

Is the mount for a Socket 1155 similar to a 775? I just wondered if the water block would work on the new CPU? I have not seen the hole spacings for the cooler on the new Mobo so I am hoping that someone on here has?

I'd appreciate any guidance

Thanks

Changy

It is the same as a 1156, but not too far from a 775. see this pic. http://images.bit-tech.net/content_i...d-review/5.jpg

Some 775 waterblocks will go straight on & some with small mods.
I just had to slot the holes a couple of mm on my 1366 pin Alphacool waterblock.
What waterblock do you have?

Yeah, it's doable. Even 775 WB on 1366 MB.

I'll ask a friend of mine to take a photo and post what we have done.

Check these out:

You might (or not) see the angle screws are set, but it is 775 water block on 1366 MB/backplate.

Hey cheers to everyone for the replies - great photos!

Sorry for the slow reply, I had another relapse and the last few days have been spent in bed!!

I think I must've mentioned the change to my wife and she wasn't over impressed!

I'll let you know what happens!

Thanks again
