SSD Time?

Considering replacement of the primary RE3 1TB hard drives in my boxes listed in signature for SSDs. Previous interest determined the cost did not justify. Can/will anyone bring me up to speed on what's good and not...now. Both MBs are 775's, a P45 and G45 and I know SATA II is the bottle neck

Thanks!.

hey been a while !

even if SATAII is a bottleneck, SSD would be the biggest noticeable improvement in performance for desktop rigs from SATA disks.

newegg, adorama, bhphoto, amazaon all have holiday season discounts you might be able to nab for SSDs ! so do it

I have 960GB Crucial M500 SSD in my laptop but my desktop is still SATA. Plan to switch to SSD when 1TB SSD fall more in price. Doesn't help that Australia to USA dollar has fallen through the floor, so pc gear in Australia as well as overseas purchases are much higher right now for me

Thanks for remembering...hope all is well with you.

So any particular Brand/Model SSD to recommend? Takes less time to fact check than to do full research. Last time I looked into this, Samsung 830's were the favorite. Think I still have my notes for optimizing when we set up my Son's Dell Precision with an mSATA boot. As always, all assistance is helpful.
