HD4870x2 Crossfire test/benching

Got my 2nd HD4870x2 and decided to have a quick test. Not sure if rivatuner 2.11 works with 8.11 RC2 drivers for overclocking but will see

System:
  • E8600 Q820A599 0464
  • CPU Cooling: Dtek Fuzion Rad Tower Box
  • DFI LP DK X48-T2RBS Plus - 9/23 beta bios
  • 2x HD4870x2 with 8.11 RC2 drivers
  • 750GB Samsung SATAII
  • Pioneer 215 DVD-RW
  • 1200W Silverstone OP1200
  • Vista Ultimate SP1 64bit vLite updated

stock runs @750/900 clocks

3Dmark2003 = 117,410
3Dmark05 = 30,709
3Dmark06 = 22,492
3Dmark Vantage = 16,290

Powermate Wattage meter peak load draw from wall = ~760 Watts

If your scores suddenly start reversing at a certain clock, you might like to try flashing to that clock instead of using Riva.
Ive had troubles in teh past with Riva not setting all clocks.

Thanks Tim, think i came across that when clocking memory past 900mhz heh. Guess need to test more the limits of the new 4870x2 before flashing heh

Can confirm Rivatuner 2.11 won't overclock HD4870x2 Crossfire setup as the clocks revert to 507/500 each time. So used CCC and maxed out GPU slider @800Mhz and mem @965Mhz. Both HD4870x2 can do individually 850-860Mhz on GPU in non-crossfire mode, so there's ample room for higher scores later on

Powermate Wattage Meter
  • 3dmark06/3dmark03 = 876W peak
  • 3dmark05 = 903W peak

Thumbs up

Nice Numbers George , shame about Rivatuner not working there , Unwinder should release Rivatuner 2.12 soon .

hiya eva why not flash the cards to the asus top bios, then you can just set them over the 800gpu limit, works ok i have had it on mine for about a month also no artifacts with ram running at 1000mhz

Yeah i probably will, just didn't need to when i had my 1st HD4870x2 as rivatuner allowed me to max my card 850-860mhz gpu, but now I have a 2nd HD4870x2 - it's brand new so thought i'd test it's limits before flashing
