thanks for your help and no offense,but tried everything already(i think so)

switched to dfi and 224 with this low qpi(mine does not like over 1,35) and 224 with 101 pcie

same limit under cold??? 219

this is the mobo not the cpu

Hey Guys,

Just got this rig finally set up over the weekend... W3520, RIIIE, 8GB A-Data 2000X, HD5850, HX650. Looks like my Xeon is a crap OC'er (I always have crap luck with CPUs) but before I write the CPU off I just want to make sure I'm not missing anything.

I don't have access to the PC as I'm at work so I will def post my BIOS template later tonight. Just one question though, with the 2x8-pin ATX power connectors, do you guys actually use 2x8-pins? I have mine running off one 8-pin but split in 2x4. So I'm basically running 2x4pins in each 8-pin. The manual says this is fully supported but I'm wondering if this can affect clocking.

Any other magic tricks to help with clocking? Currently it looks like my Xeon needs 1.36ish volts for 200x20. My crappo 930 clocks about the same but runs hotter. Was hoping the Xeon would be better.

About 2x8pin connectors, IMO it's better to use complete 8 pin in first plug (upper), then splitting it to 2x4 and use both plugs. My PSU has 1x8 and 1x4 so I use 8 in upper and 4 in lower and had no problems OC'ing to 4.2-4.4 for 24/7 use.
About voltage, 1.36V is a little bit high for Xeon. Mine needs ~1.31V for 4.2GHz and compared to others' it is above average. You could try using 191x21 or 211x19 and see how it works. Use my templates throughout this thread as some kind of guide.
And BTW please post BIOS template.

Updated last night. Folding for 18 hrs now, with no obvious faults. Still to test if it's better then previous, but it's not worse I guess, cause it's working on same settings.

Cheers for that. Will try re-jigging the power connectors to see if it makes a difference. I have manged to get it 12hr prime95 stable at 1.35V but monitoring the power delivery to the CPU via a multimeter shows that the voltage does indeed fluctuate during full load. I'm sure this is normal but I will change the power connectors to rule this out.

Will hopefully get the BIOS template filled out tonight. Been a bit busy with work and other stuff. Will also try different bclks but I would rather not go lower than 200bclk.

EDIT: Is there an easy way of exporting BIOS settings? Is it as easy as dumping them to USB?
