The_Rick: what specific model WD did you previously have?
you mean raptor (36gb), i'm unsure but as it was a year old when i sold it recently, i'd say it could be one of the older models, not the fluid bearing type now on the 74gb models.

How do you think two 7*GB raptors would stack against two of these?
well i dont really know how performance would go but the cost of the 2 74gb raptors (~$250+ each new) vs the Hitachi 7K80 (~$90 each new) is a no brainer for me

well i know for sure 3x 80GB Hitachi 7K80 SATAII raid 0 beats 4x 74GB Raptor raid 0, so 4x Hitachi 7K80 would beat 4x 74GB Raptors

i think 2x 7K80 SATAII raid 0 is on par with 2x 74GB Raptor raid 0

Can you run 3x Raid and 1 non raid on the DFI NF4? I naturally assumed that you would work in pairs :S

Also, has anyone had a chance to compare these drives to the Samsung 80GB SATAII NCQ?

i picked up an Asrock 939DUAL-SATA2 motherboard yesterday.......first PCI Express SATA2 controller according to them and it's supposed to have blistering drive performance....man this motherboard is great value for money....just waiting for the Opteron to have the extra CPU to put it through it's paces
