IIRC you only need to supply power through the pci slot for these, so you can solder on power cables and run them externally

(If you don't need standby power you can probably wire up molex connectors to them and just ghost on a bench image when you need to)

Yeah some folks have done this.. me no eletronics/soldering know how

I'm looking forward to when 100+ MB/s SSD SATAII disks become more affordable though

It will come down to the controller they are connected to, SSD SATA I versions can already saturate current controllers... nVidia being the better one vs Intel's ICHxR versions to handle these types of drives.

nVidia with I-Ram RAID-0 2x4Gb - Running Vista 32 on the partition

oohms i was looking at pinout of pci slot, there are multiple ground and +5 +3.3 pins, im not sure which i should solder to, if i can work it out, ill just do this to power them directly from molex
