4x80GB Hitachi 7K80 SATAII NCQ Benchmarks Review [hdd]

Since i had my 2x 160GB Seagate 7200.7 NCQ die on me, I decided to try out 4x 80GB Hitachi 7K80 SATAII NCQ drives from simline.com.au. Choice was that or 2x 74GB WD Raptors, but drive space was priority.

System:

FX-57 CABCE 0516 WPMW (water cooled) from mittoni.com.au
DFI NF4 SLI-D 510-2Fix bios
2x BFG 7800GTX SLI
2x 512MB Gskill PC4400LE 431 @200mhz 2.5-3-3-7 1T
120GB WD 1200JB OS drive
4x 80GB Hitachi 7K80 SATAII NCQ hdds on nvidia SATA ports 1,2,3,4
Pioneer DVD burner
510W PC PowerCooling SLI psu

WinXP PRO SP2
6.53 chipset drivers
77.72WHQL nVidia forceware drivers

- 7K80's came with SATA300 support disabled
- Hitachi web site warns not to enable SATA300 and Spread Spectrum Clocking on the drives unless motherboard supports them - DFI NF4 supports these features so I enabled them for subsequent tests

Single drive
with SATA150 mode and spread spectrum clocking disabled

Seems for Pcmark04/05 that 64K stripe and 4K cluster is faster

16K vs 64K stripe
= 9,557 vs 9,611

Your sequential seems slightly low for 1 disk.
In RAID 0 however they look absolutely gorgeous. I have never seen speeds that high.

As a point of reference, heres some tests i ran a while back on 2 x Raptor 36Gb's and a 160Gb WD SATA.
