hows ur system so far ? can you feel any lags or sudden slowdowns ? for eg when you are even doing something simple in Windows, can you see it suddenly stop for a brief amount of time?

I find this happening with my system and its bit frustrating ... It probably needs some work and optimisation / drivers updates ... or even better .. firmware updates for the drives from OCZ.

The write IOPS seem pretty bad ... see my post on OCAU - LINK

This would explain the sudden slow downs ... its also nicely explained I think in the OCZ forum thread where u already made a post - LINK

Im keen to test it with the MFT software which Im hoping to get the enterprise trial version very soon. Still ... kinda stupid that I will have to spend $250 US on the software just to get something right that OCZ was supposed to get right in the first place.

Yeah saw that you're testing MFT software.. should be interesting to see.

Only lag I came across is a weird one... when i formatted a partition on ssd raid array - quick NTFS format had a momentarily lag, while full NTFS format sped through very quickly.

hmm .. interesting ... so no lag at all when you r u sing windows, switching apps etc ?

btw you can download MFT software too and run the test which works in the trial version before you even activate it , u will have to restart though after the install ... its very easy ... just select the drive and type of test (Quick or long) ... download link to soft - HERE , I tried version 0.971

let us know how u go when u have a moment ...

will do the MFT tests later..

Seems I might not have write back caching enabled for the raid volume itself which could explain weird results ? Only have hard drive data cache enabled for the array.

hard drive data cache enabled on array

Volume Write back cache disabled

edit: seems Volume Write back cache is an option for Raid 5 configs only from what I've read

from what I've seen .... I get no difference between:

1. write cache turned OFF on Controller and drives
2. write cache turned OFF on Controller and ON on drives
3. write cache turned ON on Controller and OFF on drives
1. write cache turned ON on Controller and drives (current setup)

EDIT: yeah let us know how u go with MFT benchmark ... I've had few responses from MFT ppl ... should have the software up and running tonight with a bit of luck ... the activation process is tricky .. and they said they did have "some" issues with Vista 64bit but are happy to work with me if I am patient and if I want to ... sounds promising ... maybe I'll get a discount on the soft as I really dont have US$250 spare ...lol

Thats what I have noticed lately a lot of people running PCMark 05 with those little SSD devils and having monster scores. Is it faster than I-Rams ? sorry for newbie question

starting to install pcmark05 on SSD raid 0 array = install time literally took 17 seconds to install which IIRC is faster than when i used I-RAM

for the Pcmark05 HDD test I-RAM seem faster though from old results Gigabyte I-RAM Ramdisk fun and fast! scored around 32K hdd score for single 4GB non-raid I-RAM. But for PCmark05 suite hdd test might differ as suite hdd test is multi-threaded.
