| Acceptable soldering iron http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView...Max=&SUBCATID= It's the only one I could find on there site close to the 10w range. This would be ok to do vmods with / the 0.2mm tip it comes with ok? I've got some old dead cards and boards (geforce 2's / pentium 2 mobo's ect) I can practice on. Also off topic to my own post, but when some1 says "1kΩ variable resistor" , they are talking about one of these http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView...ax=&SUBCATID=? or along these lines? Chears. |

From my experience 15-30W is more desirable for being able to give a little more heat when required. Most people would laugh if they saw the tip size i use most of the time also. |

| Re: Acceptable soldering iron By T_M i agree, 15w is nice for IC legs and small capacitor joints but 30w is required for larger through hole joints.
we must have the same tip size then because i use a big one at home for all of my mods. too lazy to get a smaller conical tip for my cheapo $10 radio shack special |

Arighty, thanks Tim and Jody. I ended up with the one in the link coz in the store I went to they didn't have much of nething, bar loads of gas irons. It's 10-13w, still should be ok to laern with. The tip on it is tiny. I forgot your a pro solder'r Jody |
