hey guys

The comp was downright terrible for us. We had bad luck all day that day. First board and CPU would not even boot at 4.9GHz most times....the whole setup was a ****in joke. Motherboard was doing all sorts of weird things and no boot was really the same with it....we also had to go find a PS2 keyboard as we could not use a USB keyboard so our first part of event finished without one run, The hard drive that was provided would crash as soon as you boot windows at stock so i had to boot in safe mode to undo all the startup apps and that fixed it for us......after tryin just about every setting under the sun i managed to corrupt the HDD as well and kill an OS.......for Intel setups that really is not very easy to do hahahahah. I even managed that

second round (Superpi) was basically not worth submitting (9.00s score) with similar scores to italians (giorgoprimo & dimas) in front of us...........we decided to use our change rule and change the board and CPU

second CPU seemed very nice (cause of clocks/volts/temps we were getting) but board was a dog..........can you believe this.......we could not bench past 340Mhz FSB hahahahaha

highest multiplier that worked for us for 15x with this bios so basically we could only bench 5.1GHz so that was it. 5.1GHz in '01 and '06 basically mean not to even bother....we decided to start preparing GFX cards and whole setup for '06 after spending most of the '01 head scratching why the hell our board could not do any more than 340FSB when everyone around use was benching past 450MHz easily

it was just one big nightmare which continued after '06 (out best run was basically around 27.5K in which there were a fair few runners) but with such a low FSB and bad CPU speed there was not much all we could do even though we could bench out GFX cards up to 1GHz core somewhere. RAM on out GFX card was **** >> 950 Max and some of the other guys had the same as us while Italians in front of us i think managed around 1100 on their GFX Cards.....us and italians were in similar problems......There was a lot of issues with GFX cards with other competitors. We overcame those issues pretty quick and had it all running sweet but we just could not get the board to give us what we needed..........but what can you do...that;s the nature of the comp and i know hicookie worked very hard to try and bin the CPUs at least to provide us very similar chips but it wasn't the case......

We thought ok let's keep positive (somehow) in the freestyle event as we brought our own hardware for this event besides the PSU. The board was benching mid-600MHz FSB for Deanzo at home so we were pretty confident that out results will be pretty decent for my gem E8600, Corsair Dominators, dual 4870X2 cards and 6xLN2 pots....CPU/NB/all GPUs.

well it wasn't to be....once again some really odd stuff going on with Deanzo's board on the latest F4B bios....i wasn't even able to boot at 500FSB which was really strange. I've not ever experience such a problem and deanzo thought we should flash back to the bios he used to get to 700Mhz FSB so we did. After flash the board just continuously did power cycles and just would not start any more. The flash bricked the bios and for some strange reason it would not go to backup bios to fix itself. I was holding my LN2 thermos thinking seriously about just whacking the whole rig with it about 10-20 times but it probably wouldn't have looked good for the cameras hahahahahahahah

we were so exhausted with our bad luck that day that the last half our or whatever time was left for freestyle was not worth changing over to that Gigabyte comp board that did 340Mhz FSB max on that quad....so i took my second card over to my Team.AU team mate Tim Marshal over at Team Singapore bench table to help them at least as their second GFX card died. We installed our card in their rig got the drivers working and did some quick tests............cards were doin -100C on the cores no problems and then out of nowhere their mobo just dies as well or at least would refuse to work with one and both cards installed. It seriously could not get any worse i think

i was devastated to have such a poor result and was pretty beat up even though most of it was out of our hands but one still cannot feel right about it considering how much effort we put in and how long i've been Ocing without ever having such a bad day in the office so to speak

I'm off to find those Arnold Schwarzenegger voice overs saying STOP WHINING hahahahahha

Cheers
Dino

i hope no one misunderstands my post. I take nothing away from the winners. Sweden/Russia/USA guys did really really well and part of the skill is to work with those issues. I guess all i wanted is to at least have a go and try and compete that's all.

woah man you guys really had a bad luck day there worse for Dean for loosing his own gem board too in the freestyle event! My Gigabyte X38-DQ6 died the same way from continuous reboot cycles couldn't get out of them. So Tim also lost a personal 4870x2 too ?

Question have you guys tried quad core on that board prior to the event at all ?? What was the max fsb you managed at home on your own boards ?

What was the highest cpu/fsb clocks from all the teams ?
