Talking vBSEO Installed on i4memory.com
Old 14-05-2008, 05:42 PM   #1 (permalink)

Decided to fork out for and install vBSEO addon for i4memory.com's vBulletin forums. Add on allows better search engine indexing of forum page's content than the default dynamic urls.

The old url format still works and get's redirected to the new format for urls so nothing really changed for a functional end user point of view

i.e. Forum News forum's new url format looks like this now http://i4memory.com/f85/ this specific thread's url now looks like vBSEO Installed on i4memory.com

Negatives: One negative side effect of this change is that when you change the thread title, you will also change the thread url link. So bear that in mind

Another addition is the posting option under 'Automatically parse links in text', there's now also a 'Automatically retrieve titles from external links' option too.

This option will retrive the title of links posted i.e. http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=187757

will become

Asus P5Q3 Deluxe reviewed at AnandTech - XtremeSystems Forums

Just a reminder, that with vBSEO installed, your thread link url may change if you can your thread's original thread title. So if you want you can use the original url format to link to your threads on other forums - they will automatically be redirected to the correct vBSEO formatted url link.

To do this just take the vBSEO format url's last set of numbers (threadid) and use the old format.

For example:

This thread vBSEO url ending digits is 5899, that is your threadid.

So i use original format and set threadid (?t=) to that number
