Asus p6x58d-e (extreme) memory problems
This is a discussion on Asus p6x58d-e (extreme) memory problems within the DDR3 Intel Memory forums, part of the Intel memory category; By Uncle Fester i would reccomend using cpu-tweaker if cpu-z isnt working, also have you done fresh format sounds like ...

| By Uncle Fester I downloaded the cpu-tweaker, but it errors on me, so i will try again shortly. I am also trying to get snagit to do some really good screen snapshots and show more from the testing software.
As for testing the memory, it is running at 1.65v, and with this board, i was never able to get just one chip to load, it had to be at least 2 chips. If things work out (which seem to never do) i am going to get some screen snapshots of the testing software, and i will use my wifes camera to show pics of the inside of my case. The bios settings are all set at factory default right now, I did at one time change my memory setting to x.m.s, and forced the speed to 1066 even though i am using 1333 memory, afterwards i set everything back to factory, so i can get exact factory readings when showing my test. Also there is no bios upgrade for this board as of this time, but i have been checking on the asus site regularly. There was an update for the p6x58d professional which says its a beta update and was to address memory issues. I also downloaded this beta, just to see if my board would reconize the file, and recieved the error that it was incompatable. I wouldnt of installed it anyway untill i knew for sure, but wanted to see for myself. |

looks like mixed kingston and micron memory (kingston probably use elpida ics) so could be problematic in itself ? Code: Motherboard:

Here is my delima then, I have more kingston and micron memory, but when i use them, they will not work on my board, but they did work in someone elses! This was the best combanation that I was able to get to work togather. I dont know if it shows this in the attachment, but the 4th chip is in the 4th slot, and the program tells me that its in the 5th slot. I added a attachment of what it shows me. I will continue to try and do more testing as I can and follow up here, as I do get the fastest responces here then any other place that I have been trying. |

I agree, oooooo i agree, so very much....BUT! Asus tec support tells me that their R&D dept in china "cannot" replicate the problem and they will "NOT" be updating the Bios. If they would do this, it would probally resolve the problem. You are now the 6th person who has said this |

| Undated Info
I will try to post this correctly, but as of my last post, I wanted to pass on the info that I have. 1. There is a new bios update for this motherboard, released just a couple days ago I have for the first time, seen 12 gigs of memory working on my computer. I have some of the memory chips, but the confusion seems to validate the statement on here that now all memory is true matched memory. Product Information http://www.kingston.com/products/default.asp I was also supprised that micron memory seems to support 4 frequencies and kingston only supports 3. This seems to show me that with 6 chips it is harder to match, and it can be mixed with other memory, it is just something that allows the memory to work togather. On the stock setup, i did run prime95 64bit version for 1 hour, and a couple of other test programs to make sure that this wouldnt just be a fluke. |
