If anyone else has this combination when you have EIST and Turbo Mode enabled does it idle down quickly for you? On Vista and XP I can cruise all day at 21 mult and not see it idle down. Well on Windows 7 it idles down almost immediately to 12 mult and stays there most of the time. I understand that EIST underclocks your rig when not in use but it is necessary for turbo to be enabled. It takes me opening a program for it to bump back up to 21 mult but then immediately goes back down to 12 mult. Going for highest overclocks on my Windows 7 setup is pointless as it underclocks it on me. When I run SuperPi it gets to the 2nd loop before it bumps up to 21 mult then as soon as it gets done and not a second later it goes back down. Never did this on XP or Vista. Any suggestions? Maybe I am just missing something.

Well that only worked temporary. Everytime I restart my rig it goes into the 12 mult stance. Even with it on high performance. Its like I have to trick it to stay at 21 mult. I have to switch back and forth from high performance to balanced. Sometimes it works and sometimes it but I can't. I think I am going to try a reload as something is screwy.

Well fresh install, same scenario. It only happens when I put an overclock on my rig. I set it to default and sets it to 21 mult. I give it an overclock and it kicks it to 12 mult. Both set to High Performance. I can switch it back and forth with the same high performance setting and it is the same. I am starting to hate Windows 7. EDIT: Well I tried to run SuperPi with an overclock which in windows is idled down to 12 mult. Well it doesn't kick up to 21 mult during the run. It just stays there at 12 the whole time. Something is going and I can't call it. EDIT 2: Well I have narrowed it down the problem to be the CPU VID Control. As soon as I take it off auto my problems start. I can load optimized settings in BIOS, then increase blck to 138. That is it, nothing else touched. I then load windows and mult is at 21. I then reset and bump the CPU VID Control from auto to 1.22v or so and windows sets mult to 12. And when I say sets it to 12 mult I mean 12 mult as it stays there no matter what I do or run. EDIT: Well I just hooked up my XP HDD to make sure I wasn't tripping, going crazy or being a noob and what wouldn't work on Windows 7 worked on XP. I don't know if it is Windows 7 related, DFI 4/28 BIOS related, DFI mobo related, individually related or all the above but I'm thru with Windows 7 for now until a solution arrises from this. Going back to Vista. |

I had one instance of 21x multi dropping back to 18x and not 12x for me when I did my 3d mark runs, but AFAIK my score is with 21x multi ![]() I had the following set:
