E8500 Q740A493T + DFI LP LT X38-T2R + Corsair Nautilus 500
This is a discussion on E8500 Q740A493T + DFI LP LT X38-T2R + Corsair Nautilus 500 within the DFI Intel Motherboard / CPU forums, part of the Intel motherboards / CPU category; While my E8500 Q740A493T 0909 cpu is still on Asus Commando, I'll test my E8500 Q740A493T 1808 cpu on DFI ...

While my E8500 Q740A493T 0909 cpu is still on Asus Commando, I'll test my E8500 Q740A493T 1808 cpu on DFI LP LT X38-T2R. I'm trying to find the best/max FSB capable motherboard for phase change cooling to best max out my E8500s for 3dmark benchmarking since these E8500 only have 9.5x cpu multipler and already on 1/4HP SS phase I've gotten my E8500 0909 to 5320Mhz cpuz validation and 5155Mhz for Super Pi 32M. So testing out DFI LP LT X38-T2R: System
Room temp: 28.1C to 29.5C 4000Mhz - 9.5x421FSB at 1.2875v bios (1.312v windows load) ![]() Asus Blitz Formula with Dtek Fuzion/Thermochill HE120.3/Alphacool AP1510 @15v vs DFI LP LT X38-T2R with Corsair Nautilus 500 As you can see the Dtek Fuzion H20 setup is much better at cooling cpu with 47C load at 33.8C max room temps versus Corsair Nautilus 500 at 57C load temps in much cooler 29.5C max room temps. Hence, the cpu on DFI X38 + Nautilus 500 setup needing slightly more vcore of 1.312v load instead of 1.304v load. Dtek Fuzion cooling = 13.2C CPU load to Room max temp delta vs Corsair Nautilus 500 cooling = 27.5C CPU load to Room max temp delta System
Room temp: 30.4C to 33.8C 4000Mhz - 9.5x421FSB at 1.3375v bios (1.304v windows load) |

32M runs just to test memory timings and stability at high memory clocks. @3598Mhz ![]() ![]() Code:

Stock SB/CPU PLL/PCI-E volts used and CPU VT 1.438 and NB 1.664v. Update: Just flashed to 1/11 official bios and playing with low CPU VTT voltage FSB clocks right now. From the reading it seems 45nm Wolfdales may in fact like lower CPU VTT values with Intel specifications pegging CPU VTT default at ~1.1v compared to 65nm Core2s at ~1.2v CPU VTT. |
