Finally, the first X58 motherboard to land in my lands happens to be from DFI. The DFI Lanparty UT X58-T3EH8 LGA1366 motherboard for Intel Core i7 processors. If you like this thread, please DIGG it. Here's some photos to chew on while I set up my first Intel Core i7/X58 system ![]() First cpus to be tested will be 2x i7 920 - batch = 3836A756 *** Product Specifications ***

| Administrator | Core i7 920 Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme + LGA1366 Bolt Thru Kit Installed first Core i7 920 3836A756 cpu with Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme heatsink and a LGA1366 Bolt Thru kit. For fans, using 2x 120x38mm Scythe Ultra Kaze 2000rpm fans which are rated for 87.63cfm, 32.91dba and 0.25A in push-pull configuration. DDR3 Memory Configurations With my 3 sets of 2x1GB G.Skill PC3-12800HZ dual channel kits, I originally thought all were Micron D9JNM but it seems only the 2 sets with consecutive serial numbers ending in 5671, 5672, 5673, 5674 are Micron D9JNM. The G.Skill set ending in 5679 and 5680 are in fact Samsung HCF0 (816)! This means 6x1GB config might not be an option, but maybe blessing in disguise as I have a 2x1GB Corsair DDR3-2133C9DF kit which is Samsung HCF0 based as well, so this means I have enough modules to at least try 3x1GB Micron D9JNM and 3x1GB Samsung HCF0! (unmatched). This should do until I get some real triple channel package kits I suppose ![]() So to start with I'll use my 2x1GB Corsair DDR3-2133C9DF dual channel kit to get a feel for the bios settings. 2x1GB will also be faster to memtest86+ than 3x1GB ![]() Note: The manual has neglected to explain the memory configuration combinations for single, dual and triple channel and it's same for all X58 boards.

| Administrator | DFI UT X58-T3EH8 Initial notes, findings and tips
Update: I've copied the below info to a dedicated thread here Initial notes, findings and tips DFI UT X58-T3EH8 Initial notes, findings and tips DFI UT X58-T3EH8 I'll continually update this list of notes, tips etc as I come across them.
PCI-E Assignments Received some clarification on the PCI-E slot assignments for multi-GPU configurations.
![]() Example, with 2x HD4870x2 double slot video cards in PCI-E #1 + #4, you'd block off access to PCI-E #2 x4 slot and PCI #2 slot but still have access to PCI-E #3 (yellow x16 slot - photo below has Highpoint RR3520LF PCI-E raid controller installed) and PCI #1 which is empty below ![]() ![]() ![]() Bios Template Based on 02/06 beta AND 02/17 beta
Multimeter Measured Voltages Using the provided multimeter measure points on the DFI UT X58-T3EH8 pictured below. ![]() I will compile a list of bios, in memtest86+ and in windows idle/load voltages and update the table as I have time to test each of the bios set voltages. I'll start with basic table for AUTO vcore, 1.590v VDIMM, 1.21v CPU VTT with rest of the voltages at default with VDroop Enabled (default intel spec'd droopage). ![]() Then manually set vcore and VDIMM to 1.20v and 1.65v respectively with VDroop enabled (intel spec) and VDroop disabled (reduce intel spec droop). ![]() While most volts remained fairly spot on, 3 voltages varied:

| Administrator | DFI UT X58-T3EH8 Bios Screenshots Reviewed Bios Screenshots Full set of bios screenshots are available here. I'll just post the important ones below. Update: 01/06 Beta bios changed the DRAM and Uncore Frequency multipliers to easier to understand multipliers instead of the frequency options as per below 2 screens. ![]() Bios screenshots are based on initial first release 12/18 bios. | Administrator | Prime95 v25.6 Load and Post Load Idle Temps Seems Smart Guardian app's cpu temp is under reporting cpu temps compared to RealTemp 2.90RC3 and CoreTemp 0.99.3. System specs

![]() Update: Added a fan over NB heatsink and dropped SYSTEM (and PWM) temps at idle from 57C to 44C and load temps from 70C to 55C for SYSTEM and 46C to 39C for CHIPSET temps ![]() ![]() It does seem the NB heatsink has a heatpipe that extends to the mosfet heatsink from these 2 photos of the cpu socket area - side view and top view. Hence, adding fan over NB helped reduce temps for both SYSTEM and CHIPSET temps in Smart Guardian. | Administrator | i7 920 @4016Mhz Pushing cpu past 4Ghz was easy, just set multiplier to 20 with 201BCLK. Bumped vcore in bios to 1.3375v and left vdimm and CPU VTT at 1.68v and 1.44v respectively. CPUZ reports 1.36v idle and 1.328v load. Swapped out 128MB Gainward FX5200 PCI card for single HIS HD4870x2 video card with official 8.12 Catalyst drivers. I ran 32M twice as first time i cut off part of the screenshot for SG displayed voltages ![]()

| Administrator | High Memory Clocks + Uncore/NB Frequency A quick look at achieving high memory clocks in conjunction with relatively high Uncore/NB frequencies. Again you need to find right balance between DRAM voltage and CPU VTT and this time it was with 1.815v and 1.48v respectively that I managed to bench Super Pi 32M @DDR3-2120Mhz 9-9-9-25 at 1.815v bios set vdimm with Uncore frequency of 4240Mhz. My memtest86+ v2.10 max Bclk is around 224 with lower Uncore frequency and around <1.4v CPU VTT, but have yet to test in windows. With Uncore frequency set at 20x multiplier, memtest86+ v2.10 starts to error out with CPU VTT 1.48v at around 215Bclk. @DDR3-2120Mhz 9-9-9-25 at 1.815v ![]() ![]() @DDR3-2130Mhz 9-9-9-24 at 1.830v Bump vdimm to 1.83v and managed Uncore frequency of 4260Mhz with CPU VTT = 1.48v ![]() |

| Administrator | Corsair DDR3-2133C9DF dual channel @DDR3-2200Mhz 1.965v I'm surprised how easy it was to achieve a new personal best dual channel DDR3 max frequency of DDR3-2200Mhz at just 1.965v bios set vdimm ![]() Seems with 16x memory multiplier, both Memset 4.0 Beta2 and CPU Tweaker tool can't report the right memory clock frequency. Had no problems with 14x memory multiplier. Vcore = 1.05v DRAM Voltage = 1.965v CPU VTT = 1.48v + 0.075v ![]() ![]() ![]() |
