eva2000, did you try to run this mobo on vista?

My board can only come to vista wellcome screen (both df or oc) but xp no problem.
Yes! I have dual boot Vista and Xp! I hate vista, but it works fine, installed and not once failed! Not sure, what are your issues on vista, only boots to welcome screen then flops? Have you done a reinstall, that would be the first thing to do!

Love my x38, Dfi did it again! I can clock to 3800mhz, 423x9, with all settings on auto, but for 2.0v to the Ram! I cant imagine what this board will do once I really start tweaking it? At Auto settings now, and at 3800mhz, Im in for lots of fun!

Great thread, so much new info to learn, Thanks!

Yeah I won't touch Vista for at least another 6-12 months - let them sort of their teething issues heh.

Was messing around with my brothers X38 and it does indeed seem to like a high PLL voltage, but what does that affect on the motherboard? and is it possible to add more cooling there in order to use 2.0 or higher 24/7 ?

Lol. Seems you found your way here too Wake.

Anyway, this board has so many overclocking options I am overwhelmed and I dont even know where to start. If I up the FSB just in the slightest, I dont post.

EDIT: Put system specs in sig. Dunno if editing the post will make it show or not.

EDIT2: Guess not.

i never touched CPU PLL from default voltage.. CPU PLL helps increase cpu max FSB but anything more than 1.6-1.7v will kill a cpu faster than 2.0+ vcore on a cpu! So be careful.

99.9% of no boot issues are memory related or memory divider related for DFI X38 LT. 4:5 divider as far as I know still has instability issues on latest bios. 12/28 fixed the 5:8 divider, prior bioses won't boot system with 5:8 divider.

Also setting clk fine delay values to incorrect manual settings can also result in system no boot even with stock memory clocks.. can't stress this thread enough DFI LP UT P35-T2R / DFI LP LT X38-T2R - working with 'CLK Fine Delay'

Only go to welcome screen then crash
I have installed both retail and oem version, but can't help to much. But now it sitting in PCWORLD Vietnam so I will check it again when it come back to me before March.
With XP, DFI working good.

Can run 24/24 with QX9650 at 4.2GHz, but can't play with DI

Re: DFI Lanparty LT X38-T2R - Info, overclocking tips & photos [56k user friendly]

I just Updated to the New bios, 1-11-08, and there a few things that have changed, along with adding the 400/800 and 400/1066(I think) ram dividers. Have you given the 1-11-08 bios a try yet?

Still learning so much on this C2D(Intel) and this X38 overclocking!(AMD for years) This thread and your others like the 'Clock fine delay' thread, I just have to say thank you! Its been so nice to have all this info on one forum!

Thanks!
