Im wondering, as I asked a long time ago in some sort of thread, what's nowadays best Voltage for DDR2?

Ive OCZ ReaperX PC2-6400EB (2x 2GB sticks) which have extended warranty untill 2.2V.

Now when I see people testing their RAM I see them push it to 2.3, 2.4 or even more. Now that 'even more' part is most likely just to show how well the RAM scales and such and not really as 24/7 setting. My BIOS allows me to set +0.5Vdimm and it overvolts a little by about 0.055V. If I'd set my RAM to +0.5V that would equal to 2.36V. How 'safe' is that as 24/7 setting?

On the top of the case there's a 120mm fan exhausting air from the case but apart from that there's no fan on the RAM, just the big ass heatspreaders. And of course there are more fans in the case, but none really give any effect to the RAM's cooling I think.

I know the warranty is just for, well, warranty. I mean, if you'd put up a little more V than stock V on a CPU you actually already lost warranty. But we all know how CPU's react to more V's as long as you've decent cooling. Same for GPU's, but the factory warranty part for RAM, I dont know, it makes me think any Voltage over that will waste the RAM within a month or something. Or at least reduce it's lifetime that much it's not worth it. Any suggestions?

best voltage = lowest memory voltage that allows highest and tightest clocks on your DDR2 memory...

24/7 I'd keep it between 2.0v to 2.2v vdimm.

And regardless of vdimm used, always have active fan cooling over memory

Thx,

I tried the +0.5V and didnt make any difference in one of the majory settings so I set it back again.

Sorry for hijacking the thread though, just a quick question

How do all, this is where I am currently at with my X38, I just bought these Geil EvoOne sticks, and am not very knowledgeable when it comes to the Subtimings, and especially on this DFI board. I was wondering if anyone had some advice as to which way to go with the memory. Everything is currently on auto. Ram is http://www.geilusa.com/products/showSpec/id/130Thanks

Hello eva and all,

I`ve just oc`d the maximus formula with the standard intel heatsink and getting idle temps of 33-34 e6850 and load temps of 67c . i have 1.375 vcore and it doesnt seem to work on any less, anyways what i would like to know is how safe is it running 67 c .
here is a copy of my bios guys, ive tried posting at one other forum who are actually doing great things re the maximus formula but i just dont seem to be able to post there for some priveledge reasons,,,dunno! anyway you`re stuck with me now so any input would be greatly appreciated , thx guys
