Microsoft Updates/Hotfixes

Where is the best place to get any and all updates/hotfixes? When I go to MS site it doesn't have as many as I thought there would be and I want to be sure I can get every single one. Noob question I know but I'm kinda new to playing with OS's and want to make sure I'm getting everything I can.

Yeah I saw the update packs but how often are those packs updated? Or is it even necessary to do full update before those packs are released?

Thanks for the welcome! I came here because from other sites I know you're a very knowledge man about this stuff

For xp pro sp3 i use xable's post-sp3 update pack which is released monthly http://xable.net/ for nlite integration. The sp2 and sp3 update pack is for updating a fresh xp pro sp2 or sp3 respectively via nlite integration .
