If DDR technology keeps increasing at this rate, we should see DDR4 1GB by Mid next year and DDR5 1GB three months after that  I like this quote from the article

graphics cards pave the way for desktop adoption. recall that DDR2 didn't enjoy a very long stay at the top with only 9800 Pro 256MB version and FX5800 / 5800 Ultra utilizing it. DDR3 should last a fair bit longer for desktops as it's enjoyed 3 full generations on graphics cards. X1950 series just introduced DDR4 so for desktops, DDR4 is still a while off  |

So next year we will have quad cores and DDR3 on Intel platform, hope there is a proper 2 x 16x PCIe graphics option as well that overclocks decently without crapping itself. I can just see the headlines in 12 months.. DDR3 @ 3-2-2-4 & 1600mhz !   |

it's not the first World DDR3... Samsung and El.. have finish them too and have give them for test right now.. But it's a good news to see Micron at work too... ( He he Hope they will be good as the DDr2)
