basically my 1gig of ram for the dell 9400 is sufficient with xp... but before upgrading to vista i would prefer to get 2gig

does anyone have any suggestions on firstly which ram would be best and secondly where to get it from?

also if i do get it will my warranty be void?

I'd recommend getting some Kingston RAM.

Basically, go to their website (http://kingston.com/) and do a search for compatiable modules from their "Memory Search" feature.

One of the major suppliers in Aus (Synnex) do Kingston so it should be fairly easy to get some. If you get stuck, let me know.

I've just got a 2GB DDR2 stick for my Dad's Toshiba and a couple of 512MB DDR for a friend and it works fine.

Lastly, no replacing RAM doesn't usually void warranty.

compatibility is very important - never forget the problems experienced with my sisters acer laptop and some ram that was not compatible
