As per topic, does anyone know what ics the Geil Ultra Series 4GB (2x2GB) PC3-17000 2133MHz use?

Did a quick google for specs of that model http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...&nm_mc=OTC-RSS and it looks to be a P55 optimised kit so I'd say most likely Elpida BBSE (non-hyper) based on the pricing at US$215.

Thanks, I asked the question on Xtreme regarding BBSE, so has BBSE taken over from Hypers or are the Hyper ics still manufactured I heared they had a big fail rate so had been taken out of production?

As far as Corsair Dominator GT Elpida Hyper issue is resolved now with bad batches identified so new batches with new SKU product codes have no problems. As to other brands no real confirmation if Elpida Hyper failures have been corrected. Someone said Gskill are shying away from Elpida Hyper opting for Elpida BBSE instead.

Still Elpida Hyper better than Elpida BBSE as >DDR3-2000mhz speeds Elpida hyper are 7-8-7-x capable while Elpida BBSE more likely to be 8-9-8-x timings only.

Hence if you want Elpida Hyper grab Corsair Dominator GT and be assured of problem free kits and/or hassle free RMA's if needed

Thanks for the info. Thought I might of been lucky i.e. Hypers on the cheap.
