| Re: 2GB Dual Channel Mushkin EM3200 - What is it? By eva2000 Last night I got around to testing a set of Crucial Ballistix PC2-5300 3-3-3-8 2GB kit on the following setup:
E6400 - L624A774 P5B Deluxe (rev. 1.03G BIOS 0804) Crucial Ballistix PC2-5300 3-3-3-8 XFX FX5200 (PCI) Samsung HD080HJ Hiper Type-R 730w So far I've tested 1:1 divider completely @ 3-3-3-8 (3-30-10-10-10-10) 2.45v (BIOS set) 1.65v NB vcore (BIOS set) and they've done a stable DDR2-870 with 80x passes of memtest86+ error free (usually only do ~30-40 passes but i went out for a while ) and has gone through and benched SPi 1M, wPrime 32M and 1024M at these speeds however to obtain SPi 32M stability it was necessary to lower the frequency to DDR2-860 (testing above DDR2-870 [i.e. 880-900] in memtest86+ indicated north bridge instability so I believe this is the reason for 32M failing at DDR2-870).These modules are behaving very similarly to my TEAM Xtreem PC2-8000 5-5-5-15 and Crucial Ballistix PC2-8000 5-5-5-15 kit (though these were tested on the Commando so higher voltages were available, particularly NB vcore) and it's fun to be playing with Micron D9's again after my stint with the TEAM Xtreem Dark PC2-6400 kit (ProMOS based). Just thought I'd drop this info here for you if you're considering a cheap Micron D9 solution Willo. I hope the info can help even though it's only the very start of testing. |

Hey Eva2000, I'm going to get some DDR667 cause I've got C2D CPUs and I'm not likely to upgrade for at least 2 years. MSY are selling OCZ,Corsair and Kingston 2GB Kits for $85-$95 here! What do you think? Also they don't seem to sell 4GB kits. Any knowledge of same? Cheers Willo |

Thanks Eva2000, One last question. I want to put 4GB in my server Win 2003, I see some have had problems with memory only recognising 4GB am I going to have dramas if server is based on C2D system with 965Q chipset?? What would be the difference between the one on MSY and the crucial?? Both systems won't be overclocked as one is server and the other home recording studio. Cheers Willo |

You'd want Win2003 64bit version not 32bit for proper use of 4GB. I doubt the kits at MSY are micron d9xxx based so they properly won't clock as high ... but if both wont be oc'd just grab cheapest 4-4-4-x rated modules from OCZ or Corsair (better local warranty AFAIK).

| Re: 2GB Dual Channel Mushkin EM3200 & Help selecting DDR2-667! What's proper use? I've read a few forums and I can't see a definitive answer. Windows 32bit is supposed to support 4GB of RAM, but people are reporting only being able to see/address around 3GB of it?
