| Mushkin 996801 DD3 PC3-1600 Weird JEDEC & XMP
Hey Guys A few weeks back I brought some RAM Labeled Mushkin PC3-1600 991801 4GB kit 2x2GB (996801) Mushkin 991801 (996801) DD3 PC3-1600 CPU-Z reads the following: DD3 2048MB PC3-10700 (667mhz) Walton Chaintech AU2G733-2G0H905 SPD Ext: XMP SPD XMP XMP-2000 1000mhz 9.0 9 9 24 51 2T 1.6V OK no problems there and the RAM works and OC quite well for cheap stuff. Yesterday I brought one more 4GB kit to add to my current RAM giving me a total of 8GB Labels are identical to the older sticks so all four have exactly the same label and matching part numbers but! Second Kit Mushkin 991801 (996801) DD3 PC3-1600 CPU-Z reads the following: DD3 2048MB PC3-10700H (667mhz) Mushkin 991801 (996801) SPD XMP is missing JEDEC #3 9.0 9 9 24 33 1.6V So what's going on here?? below is a photo of the two different models running together |

Walton one has ICs also used in Mushkin DDR3-2000Mhz (see the XMP-2000 profile) while the other doesn't. Could be change in ICs, or momentarily they didn't have enough ICs for DDR3-1600Mhz part ? I'd contact Mushkin and ask if XMP usage is important to you. Otherwise, just test each kit individually to see if there are differences before pairing them together. Let us know how you do |

| By eva2000 Thanks eva
Mushkin said the newer chips are the correct SPD and the XMP-2000 profile is a programing error!! Wont affect there performance but manually setting times is needed and I do anyway! Weird how the more normal SPD of the earlier kits is the incorrect one with the half finished SPD of the newer chips what;s meant to be right Anyway got em cranking along now in 8GB config PC3- 16000 800mhz 9.0 9 9 24 33 1T Thanks man Yeah my typo |
