This came to me as a side-effect of my testing of different PCI-E than 100Mhz which was causing trouble on my system.

At 103Mhz is dead PCI-E frequency which causes system to hang at bootup, so I have decided to set it to 110Mhz.

Similar process was used for trying to get more performance from PCI-E graphic cards. Well with PCI-E at 100 i had 3811 3dmarks11. With 110Mhz i had more - 3813 3dmarks.

Obviously its waste of effort to overclock your PCI-E for better graphic performance but someone mentioned that it can have an impact on different kind of device - SSD drives.

I have here bit older OCZ RevoX2 100gb with read speed at 750mb/s. Here is the link:

Manufacturer says of read speed 730mb/s. According to ATTO benchmark this value is real. 4 SSD drives with ability to read 250mb/s in one raid, connected to board with PCI-E 1.1 at 4x. Total bandwidth of the PCI-E interface is 1000mb/s.

After overclocking of PCI-E reference clock to 110Mhz, the same interface has 1100mb/s. But did it affected the SSD drive?

Clearly YES.

The read rates have crossed 800mb/s. For more just check the picture.

Also when i ran PCIespeedtest my common read/write rates to the GPU changed

CPU to GPU was 5400, after OC it was 5800mb/s
GPU to CPU was 6700, after OC it was 7400mb/s

Cant wait to better SSDs... this time it worked because 4 SSD in a raid have more potential that just 730mb/s and PCI-E 1.1 4x was the limit...
