ive got 4 wd 320gbs in raid5 array for personal data,

i saw you mention that seagate has a higher useable gb percentage than the wd 320 drives, im getting about 890gb useable space compared to the 886gb usuable youve got from the 4 drives,

doesnt make alot of sense? would raid controller come into play here? im using the sil raid5 controller on the dfi sli-dr expert...

could be raid controller, but more likely it's brand of drive.. each has different formatted capacities i guess

Nice setup there eva, I thought I was tough buying 2 of these babies and running them in raid 0, but you've just made me feel inadequate . My 2 drive raided, report a total space of 596gb, 317 sounds a bit too good to be true . Just a quick question but, where do you get your drive cages to hold all your drives, or do you just make them yourself?. Keep up the good work, Cheers

Yeah these drives are sweet spot for $/GB value.

The drive cages came off my old Lian Li PC60 cases i use to use ... haven't used a case for a while now. Aussie summer dictates i go caseless

I know what you mean, I live in Townsville . Although I've got a triple rad water cooling setup atm, but will hopefully finish my phase change set up soon .
