i cant handle this and changing setings in windows for every differant bench. windows superpi maxmem 100 and 600 settings.. thats fine but when wpriming u need to change again !!!! so im ghosting over my image on to all 4 hdrives and labeling them in there respective setups. i just waste to much time stuffing around in windowsand im on the edge worst scenario then is changing cpu's and oc profiles for each cpu in the bios the hard drives should all perform good for what there setup for eheh good idea or not ? Yeah it's a pain as well... thinking of buying a few more hdds to have them setup for different benchmarks... in past i use Acronis Trueimage to image the OSes but TI doesn't work well for P35/X38 ICH9 controllers http://www.wilderssecurity.com/forumdisplay.php?f=65 |

I prefer not to Ghost in windows bit dodgy maybe...here is my method..i have installed on usb pen or Small partition on hdisk.. run through Bootmagic if on hdisk.. basicly Ghost 7.5 is the safest, you need ghost 11.1 for Vista in Dos Mode.. c: cd \ :MENU echo. echo ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- echo ******* P5 - MAINTENANCE PARTITION - Version 14 ******* echo ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- echo. echo 0. Ghost Personal Ed 2000 (51P) NO XP - CRASHES IF NTFS PRESENT echo 1. Ghost Personal Ed 2001 (65P) NO XP - CRASHES IF NTFS PRESENT echo 1.1 ASETEK echo 21. Ghost Enterprise Ed 7.0 (70E) NO XP - echo 22. Ghost Enterprise Ed 7.0 (70E) NO XP - (NO SIZE CHECK) echo 3. Ghost Personal Ed 2002 (70P) NO XP - SERIAL echo 41. Ghost Enterprise Ed 7.5 (75E) XP OK - echo 42. Ghost Enterprise Ed 7.5 (75E) XP OK - (NO SIZE CHECK) echo 49. Ghost Enterprise Ed 7.5 (75E) XP OK - Clone Drive 1 to 2 echo 51. Ghost Personal Ed 2003 (77P) XP OK - echo 52. Ghost Personal Ed 2003 (77P) XP OK - (NO SIZE CHECK) echo 61. Ghost Enterprise Ed 8.0 (80X) XP OK - echo 69. Ghost Enterprise Ed 8.0 (80X) XP OK - Clone Drive 1 to 2 echo 71. Ghost Enterprise Ed 8.3 (83X) XP OK - echo. echo 6. Partition Magic 6.0 echo 7. Partition Magic 7.0 echo 8. Partition Magic 8.0 echo. echo 9. Restore MBR echo. |

Ypu're not ghosting in windows, you're booting off the BartPE CD which is like a Linux live CD but running XP. Can I ask why you think ghosting through Windows is dodgy? You cannot ghost an XP build you've booted off anyway. |

ghost 8.3 you can ghost in windows.. and you can ghost disk to disk or partition to partition and even Disk to image. But i wouldnt trust using this method as to many other precesses running at same time... y would u want to boot of a cd for ?? sounds lame and slow..my Maintenance partition is instant bootup ..recover to a saved partition in minutes..Providing on size which is usually small for a benching disk... |
