****1xx Series Opteron Socket 939 CPUs*****

***Opteron 1xx Socket939 series work with normal motherboards
***They have 1MB cache per core
***Supposed to be reasonably priced
***These will outperform Venice and Manchester CPUs due to cache size (Venice and Manchester will need up to 200MHz to compete with these on performance)
***Dual Core start from 1.8GHz with bigger cache
***Initial OC looks good....check XS website

SINGLE CORE CPUs:
Opteron 144 (1.8GHz 1MB Cache) LINK
Opteron 146 (2.0GHz 1MB Cache)
Opteron 148 (2.2GHz 1MB Cache)
Opteron 150 (2.4GHz 1MB Cache)
Opteron 152 (2.6GHz 1MB Cache)

DUAL CORE CPUs:
Opteron 165(2x1.8GHz 2x1MB cache) LINK
Opteron 170(2x2.0GHz 2x1MB cache)
Opteron 175(2x2.2GHz 2x1MB cache)

HERE ARE THE MODELS NUMBERS OFF AMD's SITE

Here is a bit on them over at XS: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...ad.php?t=73384

POSSIBLE SUPPLY PROBLEM IF WE DO NOT ACT ON IT: These will be seen as SERVER CPUs buy distros and may not be brought in big numbers due to the size of the market not being very big in single CPU servers.......THESE WORK IN NORMAL MOTHERBOARDs, THEY WILL BE PRETTY CHEAP and THEY WILL OUTPERFORM A64 due to cache size unless same (i.e. San Diego), THEY ARE LOWER END CPUS!!!!!!......So everyone should harass their local PC shops to get stock of these.....the word will filter through the sale channel to distros eventually

The first one OCd at XS did OK at 2.8GHz....that would compete with a Venice clocked at 2.9-3Ghz

no worries

i found a nice chart with pricing per 1000 which should give you a rough idea what the differences should be retail....hence you know what 3800+ X2 is retail...the Opteron 165 one will be probably $50-80 more.......4400+ and Opteron 175 should be the same in price roughly
