Intel ITK kit you can make own custom bios to unlock oc'ing options. By default only ES or XE cpus have the options unlocked.

Going to try my 955XE on the board too

I've asked FCG for bioses he already modded for the bad axe so we can flash straight away.

Only rev 304 of this board supports Conroe/Core 2 Duo. If you have rev 302/303 it won't run Conroe.

For oem/bulk packs with clear see through anti-static bag you can see revision number in this pic location below:

For boxed retail version the revision is located here:

Intel D975XBX Badaxe FSB / Memory Calculator
Below is an attached Excel spreadsheet I made, where you can enter in the burn in % increase or decrease to calculator your final FSB and Memory clocks.

Please note you need to be a registered i4memory.com forum member to download attachments.

Added an FSB:MEM table showing all the positive burn in percentages and coressponding FSB and MEM clocks for Intel D975XBX Badaxe

There's also windows app calculator called BXCalc available at http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=116452 which basically does the same as well

Quotes of useful info to know
  1. Regarding the default bootstrap in ITK bios modding
    http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...39&postcount=4
If you screw up and apply too high of a bootstrap there is a save, move jumper to maintenance then in bios options, downclock by minus 30% and reboot. Then you can flash some more appropriate settings.
  2. How oc'ing works
    http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...&postcount=207
the way the overclocking on this board works, is that in BIOS, you can select from 533/800/1066/1333 FSB options, and then you can overclock in 1% intervals up to 30% from each of the base FSB options

these boards have basically no limit to overclockin, they theoretically top out at 333*130% which is 432.9mhz FSB... plenty of headroom

CPU voltage up to 1.65v, vdimm up to 2.2v, chipset up to 1.7v IIRC
You can use clockgen/systools for >432fsb AFAIK
  3. Bios option - enhanced power slope
    http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...&postcount=155
Enhanced Dubug - ??? you got me? lol
Enhanced Power Slope - Drops vdroop by about 50%
Expansion Card Text - Controls whether add-in BIOS card (like SCSI/RAID cards) display init text on the screen when initializing during system boot
  4. Custom bios flashing with ITK http://www.intel.com/support/motherb...74.htm#upgrade
Can I upgrade the BIOS and make custom settings changes simultaneously?
The Intel® Integrator Toolkit does not allow you to simultaneously upgrade your PC's BIOS version and implement custom settings.

Example: Your PC currently has BIOS version P12. You create a custom .BIO file with the toolkit using a new BIOS (P14) that contains customized settings. You cannot install this custom .BIO file on your PC have the custom changes 'stick'. You must first update the BIOS to P14 and then apply the custom changes.
  5. FSB Strap 800, 1067, 1333fsb all have their own fsb ceiling limits as explained by Tony/Bigtoe at http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...9&postcount=26
  6. Known issue with badaxe and conroe so far is if you run sandra or everest or speedfan apps, it will reset vcore to default 1.242v ish in windows
  7. Interesting findings from P5W DH FSB wall testing http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=111400 Seems these findings apply to Intel D975XBX bad axe as well, loosened tRFC/tRD from 35/6 to 40/7 and increased my max 32M benchable fsb from 433fsb to 440fsb!

Potential issues:
  1. With vdimm mods, you can potentially kill the motherboard and/or ram. The default board comes with 2.2v vdimm max. Folks have been modding them to 2.7-3.0v!
  2. Some folks have reported with no mods board still died but it could be other factors, condensation due to phase change, etc. No confirmation on that so far. But thread discussing this is at http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=104074.
  3. FCG, states at http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...0&postcount=17
    Originally Posted by freecableguy

So sounds like those that volt mod >2.2v vdimm will see failure. I don't intend to do any mods (cause i don't know how ) so probably safe heh.

its the only one you can get right now

The Gigabyte GA-965P-DQ6 looks very interesting though

http://sg.vr-zone.com/?i=3745

Its goes against everything bad I know (think) about Gigabyte, but it really looks like they've pulled all the stops out on this one.

This part I really like
12 Phase Power has to be a good thing for a stable overclock.

0.056V of Vdroop on the 8 phase powered Asus P5WD2E Premium.

0.034V of Vdroop on the Gigabyte GA-965P-DQ6!

Intel bad axe has a option called Enhanced Power Slope - Drops vdroop by about 50% heh.

It's the only board available in OZ if you can find rev 304s for. Asus P5W DH 975x and P5B P965 are due early 1st week of July. But who can wait that long

Also

Intel 975XBX rev 304 costs AUD$305-340 for oem and AUD$340-410 for retail box

vs

Asus P5W DH Deluxe 975x AUD$388-455. OCAU sponsor CA has special at $400 for it at http://forums.overclockers.com.au/sh...d.php?t=483580

vs

Asus P5B P965 AUD$288-320

Guys who are or have ordered their bad axe rev 304s, time to help search XS http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/search.php and the net for tidbits of useful info to add to this thread
