| Power of X38! Maximus beats MSI P35 Neo2 and Gigabyte P35 DQ6 in a stunning turn!
This is big news for me! if u guys have read my last review.. i placed the blitz formula against the maximus formula and the blitz beat it in every test i had. from sandra to pi to 3dmark to pcmark and even gaming. see it here http://topgear-pc.com/forums/viewthread.php?tid=38 But today, i did another test to find out if the maximus was just pulling my leg. so i ramped up the fsb, from 400 in the previous test to 520fsb on my e6550. i didnt need to test the blitz again as its back into my case and well imo it would most probably win again, looking at the score differences. so here's the test setup today: Intel E6550@ 520x7 (3660mhz on maximus, 3640 on the p35 boards) Asus Maximus formula, MSI P35 Neo 2 and Gigabyte P35 DQ6. (All straps at 333mhz) Kingston 2x1Gb ddr2 533 flashed to 667, 1140mhz 5-4-4-8 2T Asus 8600GT, 540/600 WD 80GB 8MB Coolermaster igreen 600W Again i'm the no screenie guy. ![]() All tests were run twice and average taken. note the maximus somehow always had faster mem and cpu speed even at the same fsb. that might account why it is faster as well. RESULTS! Maximus | P35 Neo 2 | P35 DQ6 3dmark01: 39618 | 39973 | 39470 3dmark03: 15554 | 15400 | 15548 3dmark03CPU: 2313 | 2178 | 2288 3dmark05: 9034 | 8845 | 9016 3dmark05CPU: 15632 | 12262 | 13519 Pcmark05: 7358 | 7334 | 7393 Company of heros 1024x768 MAX settings: Avg 47.3 Max 127 Min 21.9 | Avg 45.3 Max 140 Min 22 | Avg 44.5 Max 143 Min 21.3 SuperPi 1m: 14.265 | 14.765 | 14.312 SuperPi 8m: 2m52.750 | 3m20.172 | 2m59.188 Final thoughts and conlusions Now we can see that the maximus starting to rock! the dq6 manages to catch up but not beat it. plus the neo 2 with loosen subtimings either wins it or cant catch up at all for some tests. But one thing to note, the scores were mostly very close - which means in real life, u hardly feel a speed difference between the 3 boards. 2 fps or a few points in 3dmark dosent make it a lot faster. but a win is still a win. a stunning turnaround after a big defeat. way to go max! i'm hoping a bios revision and bioses to come will really bring out the power and speed of the board. |

The ASUS Maximus vs the GIGABYTE GA-X38-DQ6 would be an interesting comparison I think. With the recent BIOS updates for the GA-X38-DQ6, it's really began to unlock and open up some ridiculous speeds. We should get some quality time with the Maximus this weekend |
