Cool Intel D975XBX Bad Axe bios unlocked (OC Debug jumper)

By default the Intel D975XBX Bad Axe bios is locked for certain voltages such as vcore when retail cpus are used. The only time it's unlocked is for engineering sample cpus or XE/EE cpus such as 955XE/965XE or X6800.

When locked the bios looks like this:

Once you short the OC Debug jumper with conductive ink pen shown below (left side of yellow jumper), you unlock the bios.

and now it looks like this showing vcore selections

Notice the Enhanced Power Slope option, when this is enabled vcore droop is reduced by 50%

Prior to doing this OC Debug shorting, i was using a custom made bios I created using the ITK kit to set my vcore options and to enable the Enhanced Power Slope option if you can see the ITK software below.

Custom modded 1334 bios:

For those using Intel Bad Axe board and don't want to short the OC Debug jumper and use a modded bios created from ITK kit, here's a modded 1334 bios (read readme.txt carefully) I made enabling Enhanced Power slope to reduce vcore droop and sets vcore to default 1.35v = 1.324v real, sets vdimm by default as 1.9v instead of AUTO (may help some cold boots issues due to lack of vdimm) and changes the boot priority order so floppy drive comes before cd-rom. If you don't have floppy drive, try the bootable cd-rom method for flashing bios outlined here.

You need to have flashed to official 1334 bios before flashing to this modded 1334 bios.

Use bios at your own risk, I do not take an responsibility for any damage done using this modded bios.

would have thought reprogramming the bios everytime to change a OC would have annoyed you enough to do this sooner just looked through the crossfire benchies, is the mobo suppose to work with crossfire out of the box? looks like you had to go through a lot of settings to get it working.

How to flash custom bios using bootable cd-rom

If you have an ISO editing software like UltraISO you could do the outlined procedure at http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...1&postcount=48 for flashing bios using bootable cd-rom instead of floppy disk.
  1. Download ISO bios for 1334 named BX1334P.ISO from http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scri...ional&lang=eng
  2. Download and extract my custom bios BX133P.BIO file which is zipped up at http://fileshosts.com/intel/Intel975...ck/BX1334P.zip
  3. Open the ISO file you downloaded in step 1, with something like UltraISO. Replace the *.BIO file with the BIO file you downloaded in step 2 and save the ISO image.
  4. Burn the ISO image to a CD using Nero or other similar program
  5. Reboot the Intel board with the CD-ROM inserted. Follow the prompts. The system will reboot once more and then flash the BIOS automatically.

Notes:
  • I have never done this myself using bootable cd-rom to flash bios as i always use floppy disk method.
  • You need to have flashed to official 1334 bios before flashing to this modded 1334 bios.
  • Use bios at your own risk, I do not take an responsibility for any damage done using this modded bios.
