3rd of 5x E8600 Q820A599 installed on Gigabyte EP45 Extreme with new F6H bios. VID = 1.25v is same as 1st E8600 Q820A599 **5146.

System:
  • E8600 Q820A599 2V8 / **0537
  • CPU Cooling: Dtek Fuzion Rad Tower Box
  • Gigabyte GA-EP45 Extreme rev 1.0 F6h bios
  • 128MB Gainward FX5200 PCI
  • 2x1GB Crucial Ballistix PC2-8500 dual channel kit
  • Memory cooling: 120x25mm Thermaltake 81cfm fan
  • 74GB Western Digital Raptor OS drive
  • Pioneer 215 DVD-RW
  • 1200W Silverstone OP1200
  • WinXP Pro SP2 Nlite Fully Updated.

Finished quick tests for 3rd E8600 Q820A599 **0537 so far coolest running E8600 out of the 3 tested and highest cpuz validation and 1M pi

holy crap! nice one eva. that's a killer cpu you got there.

so have you noticed any patterns yet with the vid. i read somewhere that higher vid chips seem to run cooler while the lower vid ones run super hot.

my 8600 with a 1.2125 vid runs a lot hotter than me 8400 at comparable settings and voltages...

well as you can see from first 3 cpus here the 1st and 3rd have same VID = 1.25 and 3rd cpu runs 12C cooler so not an exact science in terms of VID predicting heat output heh.

Also 4th cpu is being tested VID = 1.2375 like 2nd cpu but temps are 1-2C cooler than 3rd cpu with VID = 1.25v !

well it was a theory someone else posted

but yes it appears your chips disprove it.

i think i may try my hand at one more! i did some dry ice benching this weekend... found out that I don't like the biostar board. it requires way too much tweaking to be fast like a ddr3 board or other higher end ddr2 board. you can't compete with it's high fsb limit though!
