I have one sensor that runs at 30°C minimum, it won't go any lower. Load however appears to be normal. I would suggest your issue is Intel sensors rather than software, the "faulty" 45nm series sensor issue continues

My VID is 1.225v and is currently running 4.0GHz at 1.20v (bios) 1.760v cpuz, load (prime95 blend) never gets higher than 40°C, OCCT load is 51°C max. Temp readings using TjMax of 95°C

Cooler is Thermalright Ultra 120 eXtreme with a Scythe Kaze-JYUNI 120mm, 1900rpm, 110cfm
Board is P5E3
yeah temp sensors are weird

By shimmishim View Post
My vid is 1.2125 and hits over 66C's while running orthos at 4.3ghz at 1.32 volts.

Maybe try a little more voltage eva?
see below max validation @5011Mhz at 1.552v still shows same idle temps in realtemp/coretemp LOL

By chispy View Post
Shimmishim i got the same vid as yours 1.2125 , mine its Batch Q820A405 , pack date 07/17/08.
Also i dont trust the chip sensors they seems that on mine dont move that much around no matter what voltages i apply to it it remains around 34c ~ 44c even at 4.8 with 1.54v , weird temps readings.
i think it's partly bios related maybe ?

EP45 should be a high FSB board to test with
yeah especially on air/water to max out cpu clocks..

1st E8600 Q820A599 **5146 max validation = 5011Mhz at 1.552v idle realtemp/coretemp temps = 37-47C

was hoping for 32M super pi run at those clocks guess I can't have all the luck

2nd E8600 Q820A599 **4506 up for testing next

Hi Tim , im awaiting a Biostar TPower I45 , seems like the best choice combo E8600 + Bio
its a winner, by thursday i will have it on my hands with a 4870x2 for some 3D action during the weekend. Im testing the cpu on the Asus P5Q-Deluxe so far its doing pretty good on very low voltages.

Angelo.

altered my original post (quoted above) to read correctly

vcore is 1.176 for 4GHz, not 1.76v

typo

well there's always variances heh

updated summary after 3 out of 5 cpus tested

Intel Core 2 Duo E8600
Q820A599 07/15/2008
SLB9L MALAY
2V82316

* I'm looking at default speed idle temps to compare cpus as the load temps don't seem to move on the cpu sensors

System:
  • 5x E8600 Q820A599 above serials
  • CPU Cooling: Dtek Fuzion Rad Tower Box
  • Gigabyte GA-EP45 Extreme rev 1.0 F6h bios
  • 128MB Gainward FX5200 PCI
  • 2x1GB Crucial Ballistix PC2-8500 dual channel kit
  • Memory cooling: 120x25mm Thermaltake 81cfm fan
  • 74GB Western Digital Raptor OS drive
  • Pioneer 215 DVD-RW
  • 1200W Silverstone OP1200
  • WinXP Pro SP2 Nlite Fully Updated.

Update:

Here's latest results tabulated - 4th cpu ain't as good compared to the others on H20.
