Talking Biostar Tpower P45 first look with Team.AU
Old 17-06-2008, 10:45 PM   #1 (permalink)

Hey all,

Alot of hype around the p45 chipset and this board in particular for massive fsb, board is nice to use, alot of good options in the bios, more memory tweaking options to come, and was relativly easy, with a bit of help from mchbar editing to get my 9650 up to 510fsb on air. Now unfortunatly my cpuz 1.44 validations dont work, but ive got some 505fsb validations here. This is quite a remarkable result being that I was only able to ever get 475fsb with this particular chip on gigabyte, asus and foxconn boards.

Setup
Intel 9650 Week 34
Corsair Dominator PC10000 rams
Biostar Tpower I45
Silverstone 1000W
EVGA FX5500

Also some evidence its good for ram clocking passing 32m at 4-4-4-12 600mhz, please ignore the slow ram time, i accidently disable cache and prefetcher in bios, impacts pi alot.

This board was also able to actually complete a 1m run at 500fsb, quite a good result for a 9650.

I am looking forward to pushing this board with an e8500, hoping to get another this week as im topping out about 610fsb with my current cpu. This might be a good platform for 3dmark01 and aquamark benching if paired with a good 8500.

I hope windwithme doesnt mind me just display some of his photos of the motherboard as my digital camera is lost after moving house! I have good word these WILL be available in Australia, might be a nice option for someone looking to grab a e8400/e8500 and push some nice fsb on air.

great bios options, in particular easy to get maximum fsb

look out for e8500 runs coming very soon!

Excellent quad FSB pro! Was this an review/ES or retail board?

...Apologies if I missed the thread somewhere but Ive been trying to understand MCHBAR tuning for a while now. I know about the Pmem Strap tweaks for 965, which was the precursor for this right? I asked before @ ixtremtek but he hasnt answered me. From what I have gathered you can edit additional timings and such right? How would I go about starting some tests with it? Any particular program/thread/writeup anyone could point me to?

I believe you use cpu-z for a dump right? Then compare values in the dumps after you change certain settings? Any help would be appreciated.

It would be rather a great moment of truth for both of them.

mchbar edits, i based on newbeetles testing, 00 set to 06 and 08 set to 26 for fed14030 register,

if i set all of the known mchbar edits to increase fsb i got lower fsb, these two gave me my max fsb achievable,

this cpu maxed at 470~ on gigabyte/foxconn/asus x48t boards, 465 on p35t-dq6, so reasonable fsb gain there on the biostar board,

this was a review board,

i think before/newbeetle posted some good mchbar edits, also eva put up a big thread here giving information on how to do it and fsb gains/performance increases

george ill get you full stepping tonight..

how do you ****ers like this, YES!

finally i get a reasonable e8500, this result is TOTALLY held back by ram, getting some ballistix this week to try,

638mhz dual-channel intel stock cooler validation

662mhz single channel intel STOCK COOLER validation

whoa nice
