| Maximus IV Gene-Z/Gen3 2550K
Taking advantage of instant and mail in rebates I have decided to finally upgrade to 1155 from my Rampage X48. I have the motherboard would like input on the CPU. The Intel i5 2550K or 2500K vs the i5 3570. The 2550K being lowest in price/3570K highest ($50.00). G.Skill or Corsair Vengeance. I have been looking at SSD drive and would like to know if I can bypass the standard SATA drive and use the SSD only. Thanks for any advice. |

Hey there ![]() I've been out of the action for a while due to being busy with work these days, but I have Maximus IV Gene-Z first gen nice board but have yet to try Ivy Bridge on it. I have a Core i5 3570K on order so can try it out later. But just be aware, Maximus IV Gene-Z/Gen3 might need a bios update to work with Ivy Bridge i5 3570K. As such you need a non-Ivy Bridge cpu to boot up to flash the board. |

| By eva2000 First release Bios. On first boot I flashed to 3305 from USB. From more reading the 2550K is a 2500K without the iGPU and a higher base overclock. Cost less than the 2500K.
Will go for 5000 MHz this weekend. Again I see a big difference in the temp readings from Probe and AIDA64. Do I assume Core Temp is the correct one as before with this build. |
